athletic podcast starkville has an extended interview with AA on the moves.
Wanted Rosario b/c he's LH. Knows he has low obp.
So he took a lesser hitter vs RHP because he stands on a specific side of the plate. Outstanding.
Oh well, if Rosario over Pham or Conforto is the worst move of the off season, I really don't have much to complain about.

Is it telling that no one else seems to want Pham and Conforto may cost too much?????

I wonder if Pham has a reputation of clubhouse troubles preceding him which may have swung AA away from bringing him in.
He was kind of seen as a malcontent when he was in St Louis, and he seems to get moved a lot.
But this goes to Encheffs point.
Wait until the pieces are off the board.
I'd give up a pick for COnforto if the contract is cheap.

He also kept bringing up his arm. I wonder if a big part was they wanted Rosario b/c he can play RF if Ronnie has to DH or play CF.
Soler obviously played RF, but some think his defense is awful.
I get the musical chairs plan for roster building you are advocating. I just don't think you can do that with as many holes as the Braves had to fill. You need some cost certainty somewhere. You have to make some moves. And it's tough to sit there not knowing what others can do. The Dodgers and Yankees and others can sign Rizzo and FF if they wanted to.
Next year could get interesting for your strategy though. You have Morton and/or Morton's spot. You have Dansby. You have two high cost pen options. IF everyone is healthy and productive you do not have a lot of moving parts on the roster. You could hold onto 35 million and see what SS takes your 2-3 year deal when the chairs fill up.
Don't we have a reasonable option on MOrton for 23?
