I think you’re overrating how many people are “waking up.” All it takes is one exogenous shock that has little/nothing to do with the party in power and the millions of unattached voters who think about politics a few hours a year decide to vote the bums out.

One political party has never been radicalized this much by poisonous social ideology like we are seeing now. Parents know whats happening right now and those people are going to vote in numbers they never have before.

Until gas prices spike or the stock market falls or there’s a new pandemic or a new war somewhere and the reaction of the public (mostly politically agnostic and disinterested and independent) is to take it out on the party in charge. President’s especially always get a disproportionate share of credit or blame over things they have little to do with. Timing is everything.

All those things matter and I'm not trying to discount it but for the most party people just want to be left along and the 'lefts' war on the family has gone way too far.

If the economy turns south while republicans are in charge (and it will, because economies just do that), I don’t think Joe Public, who isn’t registered to a political party, doesn’t have Twitter, isn’t as “online” as a bunch of dudes who post to a political message board, is one of the 99% who doesn’t watch cable news, etc., is going to pull the lever for republicans because of drag queens. That’s just not on the radar for most voters in America.

(D)’s are going to get their asses handed to them in November because they’re in power while gas and grocery prices are through the roof. I really don’t think it’s more complicated than that. Most folks aren’t listing to the Clay & Buck show, getting riled up about pronouns.

I think in general you are right... but I believe the pandemic changed things... from the "non essential businesses" to useless mandates, to closing schools (and letting parents get a sneak peak of the filth their kids are being taught)..

We’ll see…I think the public in general has a short memory. I’m also concerned (R) is going to fumble the momentum it should have in education by spending political capital on short term tit-for-tats to own the libs, rather than long-term structural wins.
