I saw a tweet earlier that said, so the answer to Christian Pache or Drew Waters was Michael Harris
This isn't about just one pick though.
This trade facilitates a whole strategy throughout the draft.
Hand wringing over Waters is comical. As if the Braves didn't give him chances of try different development methods with him. He gone. Hoffman, a little surprised he was included. He's pretty polished....think he will be solid.
But that is a GIANT guess on your part. They could just pick someone they like there and pay 2 million.
And the guys they have like in that area are the NB kid with TJ, Shewmake, etc,
I don't think Waters is quite spare parts at this point, but not a top trade chip anymore either...
I wonder if there is anything else still in this deal. It is not finalized and I wonder if KC makes it a bit more spicy for us with a MLB player too?
And they could have still been targeting this person for 2M elsewhere and it would have taken away from allotted money to other targets.
It's also possible pick 35 could be used to acquire something at the deadline.
Would need to happen within the next week. Draft is next Sunday.
Think he was saying using who we pick in a deal to get someone at the end of the month. There is no rule on trading recently drafted players anymore. I don't think.

I didn't even think you could trade picks in baseball.
Only certain picks can be traded
the pick can only be traded once I think. We own that pick for good now.

I could be wrong, but I think you still have to make it to the end of the WS before trading a drafted player.
