Spring Training Gamethread/Discussion

Strange to say this after what happened last year, but second might be our deepest position. Pena has an OPS over 1.000 this spring, leads the team in extra base hits.

Hah, imagine what Ensheff would have to say if that happened!

Rangers released RHP Tommy Hanson.

The Rangers are hurting for starting pitching at the moment, but Hanson failed to impress this spring by posting a 6.43 ERA and 11/5 K/BB ratio over 14 innings. With his stock at rock bottom, the 27-year-old will attempt to latch on elsewhere.

Dang. Dude has fallen so far .

Yeah, Gattis really needed to show some improvements in his plate discipline and that hasn't happened. I'm concerned.

How's the Royals staff shaping up?

At least Fredi figured out Gattis shouldn't be hitting fourth.

I think you could bat Heyward, Upton, Freeman at 1-3. Bat BJ and Simmons 7th and 8th. 4 through 6 really could be any of the three. You could probably essentially pull names from a hat and not be wrong. (Gattis, Johnson, Uggla)

I'll give you Gattis and Uggla, but to include Johnson with them is just silly.

Zips projects Johnson at .320 wOBA, Gattis at .323, Uggla at .322

The reason for that (power) is just another reason to have him bat ahead of them.

Heyward
Justin
Freeman
Johnson
Uggla
Gattis
Simmons
P
BJ

That's what I would do.

It should also be pointed out that ZIPS projects Johnson to pretty much have the worst year of his career.
