Around the Majors - 2022 Version

Tim Anderson seems more like our style. Might be able to get him at a high AAV for a year or two. He seems like a guy that could misplay the market.

Anderson would be a good backup plan. He’s from the area and is just 29. He’d be a lot cheaper than the other guys but we’d need a good upgrade in LF.

If we go the cheap route, Iglesias would be a decent option. Solid defense. Acceptable offense.

On the trade front, Amed Rosario might be available this winter.

Me too. I was hoping they’d decline Morton’s option and go for Musgrove.

I think we'll decline Morton's option, who we go after is a better question. Still not sure we can get DeGrom but that would be some rotation if we landed him.

I’d be surprised if we didn’t exercise Morton’s option. He is still throwing hard and could very easily round into high impact form in short notice. With Anderson looking like a dud now and soroka a question mark going into next season I think you have to keep Morton around.

Now if you’re telling me there are plans to acquire an impact starting pitcher for 20+ next season then you could change my mind. I think we have some interesting options next season to fill out the fifth spot.

In a perfect world, I’d like to see Morton round back into form, help lead us to another title and then retire on top so we can go get a younger impact pitcher.

Yeah that’d be the ideal situation. If he wants to come back cheaper I’d be fine with that to. But I wouldn’t give him 20 million. I hope Musgrove holds out till the offseason to sign.

If Musgrove is signing before free agency, Padres must be offering him serious coin to pass up free agency.
