GDT 8/28/22: Braves @ Cardinals - The Rubber Match

20 years from now, no one will remember who won the 2021 World Series. They’ll remember that the Braves won 14 straight division titles.

...and never stop throwing "but only one World Series win with four hall of famers" in our faces.

If the 2022 champs are the same as the 2021, people are more likely to remember which organization it was.

Not the point. We don’t win a division title without him.

Even 12 consecutive division titles would have been a record. And they won the division by 10 games. JS likely would have been able to find someone. Braves might have made a couple deeper playoff runs with Wainwright.

Agree with that. People remember great accomplishments and dynasties.

People are still debating whether the Giants had a dynasty because they didn't win it in consecutive years.

3 in 5 years is still elite (2010, 2012, 2014), with mostly the same core of players.

Considering the streak ended in 2006, Waino would have been wasted for years on our team.

Well, that 2006 should’ve been a wild card. They underplayed their expected W/L by 10 games. That was the weakest year in NL history. That 2006 team only scored 50 less runs than the 2003 team. With Wainright to go with Smoltz and Hudson, we would’ve been tough to beat.
