Can't believe this team is only going to go 6-18 the rest of the way. Just a 93 win team, right virginiabrave?
Dansby will no doubt get the QO and it’ll hurt him more than the other guys. I’ve said it before but best case scenerio for us is it scares off some teams and we get Dansby for 1 more year.
I agree, and I think Swanson is the guy most likely to overplay his hand and end up needing to take a short term deal. If Swanson’s agents start asking for $250M, and teams move on, he could fall into the Braves lap on a short term deal.
The play at SS is to get an acceptable backup in place they can live with, and then wait for a star to fall into their laps. It happens almost every year, just like Correa and the Twins last year.
Is some combination of Arcia and Grissom an acceptable backup plan? Maybe Iglesias, or will he be too expensive to end up on the bench? Hard to say, but it would be nice to be the team getting the star on a massive discount.
If we make another deep playoff run to the NLCS or WS, or god willing, win the World Series, it would be a lot easier to get top talent to sign here.
AA has done a phenomenal job in the past few years of getting those players to sign such as Donaldson, Morton, Ozuna (at the time), etc. So I do expect him to play around with some of the top FA available and snag one of them.
