GDT: Braves @ Phillies Game 4: Avoid the Death Blow

Someone on Twitter posted a clip with all the inside park homers by a Phillies player. More than a couple were the same thing that happened Saturday in the same park. And in those clips, the RF was nowhere to be found.

Stop trying to compare your little league fundamentals with professional athletes. News flash: major leaguers don't practice the alligator, don't run full speed on come backers to the mound or grounders to first, and they don't always catch pop ups with 2 hands either.

I didnt see the situation Acuna was most recently accused of dogging, but we all are or should be aware that this isnt the first time he has been chastised for loafing or other definitions of less than expected ML level of play.
FWIW, in 1956 (before you or lots of other posters here were born) I was taught be a MLB player, does PawPaw Maxwell ring a bell) that if you are an OFer you catch every flyball possible with two hands at your throwing shoulder. His explanation at the time and still relevent IMO "a fast runner can cover 12 to 18 feet at full speed while you are transfering the ball from your off shoulder to your throwing side.
Further, I dont know about today but I can assure you that in the 50's and early 60's Latino players were not taught the same game that us white kids (obvious racists).

sounds like my kids excuse for not doing something they are supposed to. Well, no one else does it.. or Jimmy next door gets to do that instead.. don't look at me, look at them. childish and dumb excuses for not something that you should have done. We see guys pimping homers to then be stuck on first after it hits the wall, but since a lot of guys do it, I guess it is acceptable. I love when guys jump for fly balls when they don't need to and trash thier knees too.. but everyone showboats a fly ball, so who cares.

To excuse Acuna for not moving on that play because it was too far, or other RF didn't move in the same instance, is like a 13 year old's arguement for not cutting the grass. But it is fine, I can cut the grass.. and I will not hate Acuna for that play. I would him rather not run after any ball hit to center if it means he doesn't try making stupid leaping catches that he didn't have to jump on.

Again, you're equating your fundamentals with professional athletes. They aren't the same.

Acuna has done plenty of things to be frustrated about. Not backing up the CFer on a ball hit to Left center is hardly something worth bashing him over.

By the way, this is JTR's 2nd inside the park homer at CBP, as he had one when he played for Miami as well. The Phillies RF didn't back up on that one either.

Blame the architect of the park for putting in stupid ass park dimensions.

The Soto incident that got him demoted to radio for one. And it's isn't the first time he's called out Acuna while giving other players (notably white players) a pass for similar behavior. Dude is a dinosaur and needs to go.

So no proof and just going with feelings.

Pretty sure Dansby and Ronald both were thrown out last season in a one run game tagging up and Acuna got called out by snit postgame while dansbys was because he was hustling and trying to make something happen.
I’m not saying anyone is racist.
Just pointing out an example someone could make.
I believe Ronald does stupid things and rightfully gets called out on them but I also do bellve there is a double standard.
Duvall for example ran into a few outs this season on the bases yet nothing was said postgame but when Acuna does it he gets called out.
Just what I’ve seen imo

I literally just gave you proof. He was demoted to radio for previous comments.

He said mean things about Soto. Doesn't mean it's racist. I have to admit I've wondered about Soto's age as well. Show me proof of racism beyond your feelings.

Lay off Joe Simpson. The man has done more surrounding the game of baseball than anybody in this community ever will. He has his opinions.
