AA was on the local radio yesterday and said that they are set at 4 of the 5 rotation spots, with Soroka/Elder/Muller/ etc. to compete for that 5th spot. I'm assuming that he is thinking Odorizzi will be back? He mentioned the reason they signed Morton was for the team control for next season and the year after. He mentioned that all of the analytics pointed to him still having the ability there, but with the offseason not being normal, it threw him off for the whole year. He feels that with a normal offseason, Morton, Soroka, Acuna, etc. will be back in form next season because they don't have to rehab the whole offseason.
It sounds like Verlander will probably opt out of his current deal, but will probably stay in Houston, similar to what Morton has been doing here.
If Odorizzi opts out of his deal, I wouldn't be surprised to see AA go after a TOR pitcher.
