Official official offseason thread

I want them to trade Anderson. His numbers have eroded every year. I think the league has adjusted to his strange release point and are starting to exploit the fact that he only has two pitches. I want them to deal him before he loses all of his value.

The time to deal Anderson was waaaaay back when I detailed why he was a 4 who folks may have been tricked into thinking was a 2.

Can't see into the future, but Anthopoulos may hold on to both money and prospects to make his augmenting moves at the trade deadline.

I still think they are in on Swanson and I wouldn't be surprised if they signed a couple of mid-tier bullpen guys.

I think AA will grab some pen guys but it will be much later in the game.. sort of wait and see who is left.

This are the move Braves should make:
Elvis Andrus 1 year minor league contract.
Trade for Bryan Reynolds attach Rosario or Ozuna contract.
Sign Jd Martinez or Justin Turner for a 1 year contract maybe with options.

Lineup:
Acuña
Reynolds
Riley
Olson
JD Martinez/Justin Turner

Why would Andrus sign a minor league deal when he was just a 3.0 WAR player last year?

Catcher Willson Contreras and the St. Louis Cardinals are in agreement on a five-year, $87.5 million contract, a source familiar with the deal tells ESPN.

Not a bad contract. Contreras obviously isn't the defensive player that Molina is/was, but his bat is holding up and he may be able to slide over the DH if he maintains his offensive performance.

It really was. It wouldn't shock me if there was a dumb, small market team that thinks he could eat some innings for them for cheap. Considering what mediocre pitchers are getting, you might be able to sell Anderson has value as a back end of the rotation piece for someone.

Maybe you are right but I don’t see no one giving him a multiyear offer.

In a normal offseason, I'd agree. But we're seeing pretty average players getting huge money. I think Andrus could probably secure a 2 year deal, maybe 3 if the market keeps going like it is. Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Cards, Twins, and us are all in the market for a SS. There aren't enough players to go around so someone could be stupid and give Andrus 3 years.

Why in the world would an average MLB SS accept a minor league deal?

Why in the world would the Pirates want either Rosario or Ozuna as part of the return for Reynolds?

Why in the world do the Braves need another RHH DH option?

Actually I didn’t realize how good Andrus’ year was last year. Still… looking at his last 4 years or so last year looks like the major outlier and with him on the wrong side of 30, I am skeptical he can keep playing close to that level.

Whatever you say!
Mr. Wiseman
Reynolds bat both side, you still have Albies, Harris and Olson batting from the other side.
We need a real DH not Ozuna that is not reliable.

His point is Rosario and Ozuna have negative value. The Pirates would not be interested in either of them in a package for Reynolds.
