Off hand I dont like the deal because Contreras seems like a much better hitter than Murphy so I guess the Braves dont think Contreras has a future behind the plate. From what I gather he is significantly bad defensively at catcher. I cant say catcher defense excites me. Not excited about a guy whose high in batting average is .250.
Not hitting in Oakland should theoretically help his numbers (though it didn't do that for Olson).
How in the world dis Milwaukee get Contreras and only gave up Ruiz?!?!?!
All of the people who say sell high on a player....I guess we did that with Wild Bill.
I do not get giving up 5 years of Contreras, Tarnok and Muller for 3 years of Murphy. I did not think Contreras was that bad behind the plate. Maybe they think they will change the rules to make it easier for stealing bases, etc. Maybe they think that is Contreras' best offensive output.
I do not know, but others have claimed Murphy profile will look much better being out of Oakland.
I thought with the Brewers involved we were going to get a SS or a LF.
We are awesome at C. But we don't have depth if one is hurt. I don't think either C is good enough for a DH role. So now we have holes at SS, LF and DH.
guess I just have to keep believing in AA.

Anyone who thinks TDA and Murphy are going to split time between catcher and tDH iisnt a very bright person
WC 0.025 per gameAnd one might want to look at how many games were played compared war between Murphy and Contreras
Where does our 40-man roster stand now? 38? 39?
Well then unless we're signing Correa or Swanson or making an upgrade in LF beyond a platoon, we're not a better baseball team. Now we're in a spot where Rosario and Ozuna will both be in the lineup every day.

The Brewers turned Esteury Ruiz (a FV 40 prospect in 2022) into William Contreras and some filler arms. Let that huge win for the Brewers sink in a bit. It's like they sat there saying they'll take the best young player in the group because the As obviously love Ruiz, and everyone forgot to make them give up anything of value.
This deal is very strange. AA just converted strength at C and a legit option at DH into a poor man's JTR backed up by TDA and the realization that Ozuna will be the primary DH due to lack of other options. Another move for a LF/DH bat must be in the works. Conforto?
This is where I’m at. There has to be more coming. Opening up the roster spots even suggests possibly multiple moves. I am excited about Murphy if we have other significant moves coming
