Official official offseason thread

Seriously. Either the A's vastly overvalued Ruiz or the Braves vastly undervalued Contreras.

Couldnt we have just kept Contreras and figured out a deal with the A's if they didnt want him. I'm not the highest on Muller or Tarnok but having to throw in Yeager, another prospect and Pina seems like overkill for just one player. Even if he's the best player in the deal.

Maybe Oakland really wanted Ruiz instead and the only way this trade worked was if we gave up WC to the Brewers so that it could work. Brewers made out like bandits, that’s for sure.

I’m 100% sure AA is smarter than to just throw in Contreras. It’s obvious Oakland didn’t want him or he would be an Athletic and the only way we get Murphy was this way.

One could say let’s just keep WC and use him to get Reynolds or another OF. Fair enough. Maybe AA tried that and no takers.

Contreras is worth tremendously more than Ruiz. It seems to me we could have squeezed the Brewers to send some more stuff back our way and they probably would have done it.

I really don't get this one. After '21, I was fairly sure we would win a second title in the next three or four years but after seeing these moves the last couple winters I am just as certain we will not. I like Bill a lot and he will be a star, as for Muller and the others who knows? Catcher wasn't really a need so not sure why this came about.

Yeah, I’m less frustrated now. Really huge get. Billiam leaving sucks but Murphy is an elite backstop and will be a strong offense guy and incredible defensive player. The pitching immediately improves

If people would just go do some research on Murphy, they will see just how great he is behind the dish and he comes with a good bat too. HUGE get.

Will miss Bill but gotta give something to get.

I think we paid a reasonable price. The A's got robbed and the Brewers robbed them.

Agreed the price we paid is fine. Just not sure it was the best use of those resources. Obviously AA knows what’s available and for what cost better than I do, but seems like that stuff would’ve been better used to get a LF or SS.

I wouldnt say we got fleeced and i wouldnt say we didnt give up enough. Just think we should maybe get more. Murphy is elite, so gotta pay something to get something.

There's still some outfielders on the open market. Regarding SS, ehh not getting my hopes up there.

A possible scenario is the Brewers had a deal all but wrapped up with Oakland and AA jumped back in, but the Brewers would only back off if they got Contreras.
