AA also said Wash has been raving about Grissom and that Wash never raves like that. He's either trying do a hard sell on the fanbase or a hard sell on another team about taking Grissom.
They already have 2 huge catching prospects and maybe they wanted a solid vet to mentor Lango

Could just DH Contreras if you dont think he can be a C moving forward.
I mean I get it. But still… the A’s are always quality over quality so I’m sure that has something to do with it. I just don’t think they thought highly of Bill

I would have kept him and got something else for him. Just seems weird to not want him at all, he was great last year.
Contreras is worth tremendously more than Ruiz. It seems to me we could have squeezed the Brewers to send some more stuff back our way and they probably would have done it.
Don't like this trade at all. I'm ok to reserve judgment until we see how we fill our final roster spots - but in the inte
--At least based on last year Contreras objectively a better hitter than Murphy. Given we don't have a DH right now and Contreras generally slotted into that role, we are actually worse off in our 1-9 right now (only way you disagree with that is if you think Murphy + Ozuna is better than TD + Contreras - and I don't think anyone is making that argument
--Its too simplistic to take a few based on added WAR that we "won this trade" - you need to take into account that our alternative was TD and Pena at catcher and trading Contreras for another need
--We actually lost catching depth. With rate of assumed injuries, I always viewed having 3 good catchers as more than just a luxury and now we are down to two and that also means unlikely to see us DH one of our catchers either, so now back in a classic "one guy on the bench is not available" scenario
In short just feels like we gave up a major trade asset to get marginally better at a position, while losing depth at the position and still have big time holes in our areas of key need - and if you take into account the delta in Contreras at DH vs. Ozuna, have we even gotten better on our current 1-9 line-up?
So if there are three spots open on the 40 now, a LF, a catcher in case of injury, and another reliever, maybe Luke?
This is where I'm at. AA upgraded a position that didn't need to be upgraded, and forced Ozuna/Rosario to take waaaay more PAs than they should be allowed. This is the type of move I typically mock Preller or the old Ms GM for making.
And the Brewers....my god did they get a sweet deal. Talk about being lucky to have an asset some other team loved irrationally.
It's cool to have JTR Jr, but AA can't possibly think Rosario/Ozuna as the primary DH/LF with Arcia at SS is acceptable...can he?

yeah, I absolutely hate this trade.
no way we should be giving up a younger (possibly better) plus a **** load of other assets for a great catcher that will be playing split time... I am done with trade.. BS..
Watch AA sign Correa and Conforto and throw out the best lineup in the sport with a bench better than half the starting lineup of 15 teams.
We will all sit here speechless.
