Braves get Murphy 3 way deal

I like the thought of him too.. however, I am not 100% sold on his offensive performance being comparable to WC.. He doesn't need to regress much to be a very average bat.. and he is did get to feast on the AL west's pitching for the most part.

I will continue to say I don't like this trade and I don't think you guys will either midway through the season. I really hope I am wrong..
I'm in the same boat and it's definitely not slighting Murphy. I love Enscheff's analogy because I FEEL that as a position of strength, the subtraction of assets weren't needed for the position of catcher, NOT because Murphy may or may not be the best.

If AA doesn't upgrade the roster in any other way, maybe you guys are right. I will be shocked though if this is the last move. Assuming this was our last "$1000" is pretty ridiculous to me

Lol @ people thinking AA is done. Getting Murphy out of Oakland and that ballpark and I’d say his numbers will only get better. I’ll say Murphy has a better year than Wild Bill.

If they play a comparable amount offensively, I'll take that bet. And no one said AA is done. But he's got work to do. If that's LOL'able, so be it.

You have $1000. Your tires are quality Goodyears. You have dents and rust all over the car. Where would you spend the $1000 to make your ride look better? Upgrading your pretty good wheels/tires, or getting the horrid bodywork fixed?

I don’t think anyone is suggesting the upgraded wheels/tires don’t look good. Most are just saying there were bigger problems to address.

I think this is a good discussion to be had once we get to Spring Training. Maybe the person actually has $10,000 and wanted to get the tires replaced first because they were planning on replacing the side panels brand new. But if AA indeed only had this one bullet and he spent on a catcher, then I agree it’s disappointing.

AA has made mistakes in the past falling in love with players (he tried several times to acquire Rosario), but he’s shown to be quite good at planning multiple years ahead.

Why you only wanna compare offense?
You only picked that out? I've said there is none defensively. There are people saying WC won't improve and I don't agree with that. That's MY belief. I didn't like the trade from the standpoint I mentioned. Nothing to do with Murphy. You AA stans trying to not see where the issue is.

And yet, we know he will do more. At least that's the hope.

We all thought getting Olson out of that stadium would help him, but he regressed.

.

How much money we got left to spend? Who is AA trying to get?

If you can't answer these questions, how could you possibly know what our "issue" is?

I get it... you butt hurt over WC like I was over FF.

it’s a common trait for dummies to use straw men and not understand nuance. well done

did you just refer to yourself as a dummy... cause this statement you made : 'guess the braves FO is stupid then, because if they felt he could be, this trade doesn’t happen.' is the strawiest strawman I have seen in a while..

My butt's just fine you freak...ha.
I don't like losing WC, but you and your ilk are posturing this trade as wonderful and I don't think it is. By itself. You'd know that if you cared to read instead of think it's all about WC, who I admittedly hate losing.

This is the main point we don't know.

If more resources exist all this handwringing was silly.

If AA has to trade Fried to free up resources to fix SS/LF, or if the opening day lineup has 2 of Arcia/Ozuna/Rosario, then I think the concerns were valid.

that’s not a straw man at all because i didn’t claim anyone made that argument or said that.

And that's really what we're saying.

We’ll know in the next couple of months but unless somebody blew AA’s doors off and offered something to good to resist and he signed Rodon then I could definitely see it. They may bring in Andrus on a 1 year deal but I think that would have happened by now if the plan was to have Grissom/Arcia at SS. Maybe Wash is working with Grissom on fly balls too so he can spend time in LF next year. But I still think we end up with one of Dansby/Correa.
