4/10 GDT: Reds game 1

I would say both, but I wouldn't think till June. He has to have some game time pitching behind him. That can't be replicated via BP sessions or simulated games.

I guess it makes it easier if the big league rotation is holding it's own. Wright back today and Fried in a couple of weeks should straightened things out.

They could 60 day DL him to get his 40 man spot back immediately but he can't ride it out there in the offseason. They'll have to make a call if they think he's worth the roster spot.

Ah yea good call.

We’ll see how the Braves feel about Ian. With the lack of upper minors depth in the system, there shouldn’t be a roster crunch so it’s truly going to come down to whether they think Ian will ever pitch in the majors again.

Soroka could be ready right after the break. He’ll need his innings limited but man that would be a big boost. Like Cheff said, we’ll be shopping for 2 bats at the deadline unless Grissom can play LF then we’d only need 1. I’d like for the Cubs to be out of it and Happ be available. He’d be a good sign in the offseason.

These are real games. 3-4 more good starts and he’ll be up if our lack of options dictate it. Maybe a few more if things get better.

Why will he need his innings limited?

Soroka has thrown 69 pitches in his 2nd start. They don't seem to be babying him along. I think we might see him sooner rather than later

Oh man - Inject these Soroka starts directly into my veins!

You can tell he isn't right yet with the number of walks and his overall strike%. When this guy is back and healthy holy **** the rotation will be dope.

Bc he hasn’t pitched in 2 years? I know it’s not arm related but they’ll wanna make sure he builds up strength before bringing him up.

He’s at 70-80 pitches in his second start in the minors. I don’t see how his arm strength won’t be back to 100% by June, let alone the All-Star break.

We all need to remember that Soroka never had arm issues - I'm sure they were doing what was needed to keep his arm stretched over this whole period of absence.

Fried, Soroka, and Wright leading the rotation. Just like we envisioned 3 years ago.

You can't just drop Albies but maybe you strategically use him against left handed pitching and once a week against righties.

He is DREADFUL against right handed pitching and isn't enough of a plus defensively to justify that dead weight.
Left..vs..right I agree. Since when had his defense been just average? Serious question. Defense ain't his issue AT ALL. Unless you got stats saying otherwise and I'll just shut up until he turns it around with the bat.

I'm saying he isn't enough of a wizard defensively to justify carrying his left handed bat.

Soroka only went 4 innings throwing 69 pitches 41 for strikes. He K'd 5 and walked 2.. 3 hits 1 run. I would say he is being slowly stretched out right now and could be up to 80 his next start then 100 his next. He still needs to refine his command as gameday showed him really missing some spots... like really high on many pitches. overall results were good though.
