GDT #9, 4/10/'14: Braves (Hale) vs. Mets (Mejia) BJ batting 2nd. Doumit Catching

Hale let us down today. Pretty bummed overall. Could have been a worse series, but yeah, should have taken 2 with either a better pitching matchup one game, or offense the other.

And we damn near lost last night, too. We have some very talented individual players that lead us to some wins, but we're not a very good team right now.

Maybe the Nats will be the cure to this crap.

I blame NYCBrave not making the GDT...

The guy living in NY that's a Braves fan. That's a superstitious recipe for success.

Dan: 5 for his last 27
Lostman: 5 for his lat 35
CJ: 4 for his last 24
Heyward: 3 for his last 25
Gattis: 4 for his last 20

Combined 21 for 131 at a .160 BA...

Bad bad bad bad baseball so far from some of our "key players"...

Justin Upton and Freddie Freeman combined 21 hits on the season alone...

Heyward's K rate is somewhat concerning, but aside form that, his numbers are solid, good walks, his iSO power is basically the same as norm, he's not gonna have a .190 BABIP.

He will if he plays a good 2nd baseman.

I kid, I kid.

I am not down on the team at all (we are gonna be right there come playoff time imo), but this series we didn't do the little things that good teams do to put bad teams away. We let young run wild, letting Murphy\Wright have pitches to hit, and we extended innings that shouldn't have been. It happens. I don't think our bullpen will be near what we have been used to and will be looking for help pretty soon (as in the next two months). If we don't trust Walden much at this point, we are in trouble if\when JV doesn't come back 100%.

Not very optimistic on the team this year. Too many holes in the lineup and a very weak back end of the rotation (partially due to injuries). The bullpen could be lights out again, but I'm not sure how much I trust Carpenter; and Fredi doesnt trust who I believe is the 2nd best reliever in Walden.

Freeman, J-Up, and Heyward are going to have to be all world players to carry this offense.
