Neither has started throwing off the mound yet, but Fried is expected to return before Dylan Lee or Wright. Fried can be reinstated on July 5 and it sounds like he may begin a rehab stint around that time.
 
Strider has to figure this out. Anything he throws above 96 is either down the middle or a ball way out of the zone. He has no command of his fastball.

It's clearly not an injury... so he needs to work through this. it's part of the development process... and it's brutal.

Maybe. In a way, I'm sure that's true. But he also was throwing 98-100 consistency last season and early this year... you don't figure out high-velo with movement. You can figure out 95-97 down the middle.

this is more the case. He can't hit 100 so guys just wait on a 96 fastball and crush it. He now needs to learn how to sequence and develop a 3rd pitch or he will just be a very expensive reliever who can empty the tank at 100 to close a game.
