GDT 6/13: Strider, and a Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall

Pretty hard to believe Harris is up to .211 average and a .615 OPS given how bad he started the year. He's been red hot and I love it. I think he just never got in synch from the early injuries and he's been fighting through rust and timing issues. He sure looks back.

I see everyone isn't freaking out or anything

lol

In all fairness, Strider's velo is down (more than it was with the initial concern a month ago) and he's allowed 12 runs and 13 hits including 5 homers in 6 innings over his past two starts. He's allowed 10 homers and 22 earned runs in 29 innings over his past six starts.

That's legitimately concerning.

On the other end, the Braves wouldn't let a guy they just invested heavily in pitch if he's truly injured. I think he's got to take his lumps and figure this out.

One thing we're gonna have to do is get better defensively though. We've been playing like ass defensively for much of the season. Unfortunately, the only position we can really upgrade at is LF.

The offense has had some good at-bats since the beginning. They do need to finish them off - don't have a nice seven- or nine-pitch at-bat and not get a hit or take the walk

That's fair. It's ok to critique performance. But saying he belongs in the pen when Fried is back is just laughably absurd.

I hope that comes soon.

If this is strider at 95-96, I don't want him starting. Him throwing 98 out the pen is an asset.

I concur. He needs to be starting until he figures it out or just ****s the bed so badly that he has to be pushed to the pen. He's too good of a player and too yuge of an asset to this team's success.
