Official Around Baseball 2023 Thread

The Braves have no magic powers. They seem to be better than most teams at developing young talent into legitimate big leaguers, but they have also whiffed on many of them over the years, especially pitchers (Newk, Touki, Folty, Bryce Wilson, etc). My point was that prospects can turn out differently depending on circumstances, regardless of talent. Just because one doesn't work out for another team doesn't mean the Braves made the right call trading him.

Or maybe I missed the irony in your post.

A lot of those pitcher misses were the old regime (Bryse Wilson is the only one not in the big leagues when AA took over). I wonder how AA and this front office would have managed those pitchers as prospects, and if he would have traded them sooner.

There are rumors that the Padres could pivot to being sellers at the trade deadline and actually consider moving Soto, even though he's not a free agent until next off season. I doubt the Braves have enough of a package to land him, and not sure they could take on the salary either, but imagine Soto hitting 2nd and playing LF in this lineup?

Imagine spending that much money and being sellers.

Not that there is much of a difference but this is more on the teams than corporate mlb for example. Teams gave up a lot in order to get huge TV deals.

True. More meant mlb as a whole sucks with the way they set stuff up and regulate. Black outs. Tv rights.

Someone had to do it

Acuna RF
Soto LF
Riley 3B
Olson 1B
Murphy C
Albies 2B
Ozuna DH
Arcia SS
Harris II CF

That would be amazing.

Fried threw against live hitters again today and it went well. Snit says they want to see how he feels tomorrow, but a rehab stint seems imminent.

Yeah. But mlb hates the fans and makes it impossible to broadcast a game
With MLBTV I can basically watch any game at almost every time of day. I think baseball does a much better job than other sports broadcasting the sport.

… except for blackouts.

I think Braves would have to trade Harris in a Soto package. I don’t think they should or would, but that’s probably the only guy on our team that would move the needle for the Padres. They gave up a lot to get Soto.

Of course there’s no way we give up Harris. Unfortunately, we do not have the farm system for a major move.
