Agreed - Didn't get that at all despite the fact that Contreras is well on his way to becoming a top 10 catcher. Maybe in 8 years we say "Would be nice to have Conreras" after we have won 2-3 more world series.
 
With the new rules its official that Elder and Strider won't pitch in the allstar game. Kind of bummed for Elder but can't say I'm too upset about that.
 
Strider is now .7 fwar behind Gallen for league lead in the NL. Braves are gonna take home all the awards this year
 
The 200 inning SP seems to be going extinct. With the Braves hopeful for a deep playoff run I think they need to treat Strider with kid gloves this year. If he can give us 6 shutout innings in 80 pitches we should take it. He is already at 100 IP after 130 last year. Theres going to be a big jump in innings. Especially with a playoff run. I understand leaving him in games until he struggles but I think its those 20+ pitch innings that do the most damage to an arm. If a guy is mowing down hitters with 10 pitches an inning he could theoretically throw 140 pitches over 14 innings that would not be bad for his arm.
