Trade deadline thread

Chirinos (sp?) is starting a game for a World Series contender. That’s all that needs to be said.

AA needs to grab an impact SP.

When I say "useful arm" I think anyone actually deserving of a spot in a rotation that could take the place of the parade of arms would be useful. I'd prefer an impact arm but just a legitimate starter would help.

You are overvaluing Lynn due to name recognition.

It's not name recognition. I like the K numbers, the walk rate isn't bad, and I think the HR numbers will regress to the mean. He's also an innings eater. I think he's a good pickup for the Dodgers who aren't a dumb organization.

If it isn’t Snell, Stroman, or somebody of that caliber then don’t waste the resources. If we wouldn’t start them in the first 3 games of a best of 5 then just stick with what we have.

Ohtani possibly hurt. He was pulled tonight with the bases loaded down 3 in the 9th inning.

I wouldn't mind if he had to miss one start (Tuesday vs. Atlanta)

If we trade Grissom, we are asking for trouble. Arcia gets hurt, or any of our infielders for that matter, and we are fucccccked.

Still have Shewmake. I cant see AA trade Grissom for anything but someone who has some control left.

Grissom cannot play SS at the major league level for any extended amount of time or in any important games.

A real major league backup SS should be a priority, but trading Grissom is a non-factor at SS in Arcia were to miss time. Certainly would not make atlanta fucccccccked.

Grissom can't play SS well enough to be a real answer there, so that's irrelevant. He hasn't spent any relevant time at 3b and zero games at 1b, so he isn't a legit option there. He's really only an option at 2b.

If Acuna, Riley, Olson get hurt, we're in the same problem. You can't have a great back up everywhere.

One offseason priority is trying to find a do it all backup, but those guys dont grow on trees. Or at least someone better than Shewmake/Culberson.

We're screwed (not terribly in some cases) if any of the starters go down. Grissom is the only infield depth we have in Gwinnett and we have zero outfield depth. We're somewhat safe at catcher with d'Arnaud.

Jace Peterson might be a reasonable target, but he can't play shortstop. Finding a passable back-up shortstop always seems to be the big issue when looking for a super-utility guy. There's a reason why toothpick bats like Adrianza stick around and it's because they can be at least an average short-term shortstop.

Could (gulp), move Ozuna to the outfield in possible said scenario. But yes, not great. Pillar is fine defensively, and vs LHP, cant play him everyday obviously.
