Trade deadline thread

I’m out on a limb and predicting scrap heap BP arms and a backup SS will not all AA gets accomplished.

Guess we have about 32 hours to see. AA already built a jugernaut.. I am not going to be mad if he stands pat at this point. I would love to upgrade sorryio and Yates personally... but I just don't see him eating that salary..

We are looking but we aren't buying. I am telling you.. we are done. Maybe a small move like the Lopez deal.. Just don't see any improvements out there worth the asking price and I don't see AA eating salary to dump someone for the new replacement. He isn't dumping Sorryio.. McHugh, Yates, JJ, Tonkin, Pierce are safe in the pen. Only spot I see is starter but I don't really like any options out there.

I believe you are right. I think they might consider Fried and Minter back as adding to the team in lieu of trades.

I feel like he stands pat this season. Maybe a fringe BP Arm, 5th starter at best. I know he's called and checked in on a few ToR and Closer arms but doubt he gets anything done on that end.

I would love to be dead wrong.

I don't think AA replaces Rosario.

The chemistry amongst the Latin guys is crazy good right now, despite the fact Rosario makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes.

AA is big on clubhouse chemistry. The brotherhood amongst Ozuna, Rosario, Arcia, Acuña, Ozzie is just too strong right now.

He will try for a reliever or starter.

Aaron Civale's an interesting idea. The Zombie Indians are reportedly at least considering moving him.

xwOBA of .298 is pretty good. Among pitchers who have faced at least 200 batters it ranks 19th, ahead of the likes of Scherzer and Snell.

He's a free agent after next year so he'd cost more than the rentals on the market but we'd also have a stacked rotation next year.

Besides the clubhouse chemistry angle I just don't think there is an obvious upgrade anywhere. So few sellers are out there as is. Rosario is our worst hitter at a 101 WRC+.

For the position players the only things AA really needed to do for the playoffs was to get a MI that can play defense and a SB/speed threat for the bench. Lopez fits the MI and I'm guessing Wall is good for the SB/speed threat.

News: Max Fried could return to the Braves rotation as early as this weekend at Wrigley Field.

The Braves also are optimistic that Kyle Wright will rejoin the active roster during the regular season.

Braves continue looking for a high-impact starter via trade.

The Detroit #Tigers are definitely trading starters Eduardo Rodriguez and Michael Lorenzen, it’s simply a case of seeing which team blinks first with their high price tag.

I think alot will depend on that player option. If he opts out which he probably will then the package becomes less bc he’s a rental

The Rangers were able to get a decision with Scherzer that he wouldn't opt out when they traded for him. I imagine ERod doesn't have a no trade clause so he doesn't have as much leverage as Scherzer but expect something similar to go down. Teams will need assurances one way or another about the opt out before making the deal.

I could see the Braves getting Verlander for someone like Grissom if they ate a large chunk of his contract. It would all depend on how much money we have and if AA thinks it will hamstring the team for the next couple of years.

This is not how these opt outs work, nor how they are valued. The only way he opts in is if he gets hurt in the 2nd half, so the opt out makes him less valuable than he would be as a pure rental.

Opt outs are always negative value for teams. Always. No exceptions. They only represent downside risk for teams.

The Tigers tanked the trade value of both Boyd and Fulmer, completely wasting their value on losing teams due to moronic asks. They are well on their way to doing exactly the same thing with these 2 SPs.

They are in the running for most incompetent MLB FO.

The Rockies keep them safe from that lowly spot.

Lorenzen makes sense because he can start a playoff game or move to the BP in the event all of Strider/Fried/Wright/Morton are in top form in October.

EdRod makes sense because he is the best SP available who isn't being paid Cohen-stupid money. His downside risk could be nasty though with that opt out.

Verlander makes sense because that .282 xwOBA shows he's still an impact SP, but I just can't envision the Mets and Braves coming together on a trade of that magnitude.

Impact BP arms always make sense because no team will ever say no to a high leverage BP piece, not even the Braves.
