Trade deadline thread

Starter is the only spot I see roster flexibility.. but if that guy isn't better than Elder/Mort, then I don't see the point. We don't Middle ot back end starter to win the division.. the AAA foder can cover those starts.

JV, if they eat a **** ton of money.. don't let the Mets off the hook that easy.
either detriot pitcher I guess. I like them both, but not sure either is a huge upgrade.. but then I look at ERod and say, his advance like him.. maybe I am just being a dumbass. plus the 3 xtra years are nice.

EdRod is only under control for 3 more years in the event his finger falls off again and he doesn't opt out. In that case you don't want those 3 extra years.

what the hell.. you think a 43 year old pitcher barely able to make it 5 innings this year is going to do that.. come on.

The guys knows athletes. I mean....this is already the best team in MLB, but adding the aging Ace is juuuuust what they need to actually have a REAL shot at winning a title.

Still hard for me to believe the Mets would deal Verlander to the Braves

Verlander isn't coming to the Braves, but it's fun to dream.

I disagree. We were obviously interested in JV before he signed with the Mets. It's all about how much the Mets are willing to eat, imo. If we can get them take on 10-15 million in 2024, I could see AA doing that. Also a possibility we get JV to agree to turn his 2025 vesting option into a mutual option with a buyout around 10 million.

I fully expect the Dodgers to get 1 of the top arms available. I know it won’t happen but I’m still holding out a small glimmer of hope for Cease.

THe Mets would have to eat a good amount of money, getting closer to Charlie's option amount, for us to decline Charlie's option.

AA is only going to want one 40 year old veteran pitcher at 20+ AAV next year, not two.

If we were paying JV maybe 25-28 million AAV, then Charlie's option is declined.

Although IMO I still prefer Charlie over JV.

He's 40 and just won the Cy last year.

Give up some stupid prospects like Grissom and let's get this done.

at his age what he did yesterday could change over night. he is not the same pitcher and those next few years are going to be rough.. really rough.
