GDT 8/14: MAX vs Yankees with “MH2”

It’s terrible no matter how you cut it, but the Braves are fortunate to have a backup whose defense is elite and bat is at least average. Get well, Ozzie!

Eddie and all the Puerto Rican players of his age group all modeled their swing after Edgar Martinez. There was a really nice video analyzing how Edgar used to lift his back foot off the ground and stay closed then hit all directions. Altuve, Lindor, Eddie, a bunch of them have taken that up because they idolized wanting to copy Edgar’s mechanics.

I knew Edgar used a drop step to go to right. I didn’t think about all the Puerto Rican players emulating him.

If there’s one thing Edgar was, it’s patient. Eddie could use some of that.

It sounds like Ozzie's hamstring woes are precautionary and more a "bad cramp" than a strain. Let's hope that's the case!

Best to have him fully healthy for October and we have the luxury of being in a position to give him the day off. So it makes sense that he's be DLed for a bad cramp.

If only there was a way to not play a guy every single game so he could avoid leg injuries. Can anyone think of any way to possibly accomplish this?

I was running a few years ago and I was pushing the pace pretty hard when my right hamstring went off. It was an audible "pop". I heard it and felt it and was pretty sure I'd been shot. I walked/wobbled the last few miles back to the car, knowing that my upcoming race was off the table and that I was down for a long rehab and rest period, if I could avoid surgery.

Two days later I was able to jog lightly on it. A week later I was full go. Now, I'm not a professional athlete going first to third, but hamstrings are funny. You never know.

Its at least a good thing AA foresaw this possibility at the deadline and acquired someone to fill in
