Without a doubt. Populist movements are never anchored in principle. They chase the zeitgeist.
"Principle" is what saw the rise of the CCP.
"Principle" has allowed our culture to be rotted to the core
"Principle" has allowed the left to completly destroy out political system.
"Principle" has allowed the Western World to be overran by third world nations.

I’ve been greatly impacted by Covid. I lost people I cared about. The inflation and rising interest rates from Covid policy have eroded the value of my savings. It’s created stress at my work with hiring freezes and budgets slashed. So yes, I do care to hear someone answer questions about how they’ll prevent and fix the problems.
Intellectual is what we should all strive for.
It would not shock me if he is revealed as a fraud.
Well then you should want Trump big time because this country hasn't seen prosperity like it had from 2016-2019 in decades.
'Intellectual' being the end goal is what gets medical agencies to put out policies of preventing all deaths. So no, 'Intellectual' is not what we should strive for in public policy.

Actually I've spent my entire adult life only supporting politicians who have principles.
Which is why I refused to vote for Romney or Obama or HRC or Trump.

I find that populists care about the right things but rarely have the right answers. Populists like ideas like rent control, subsidies, and welfare, all of which lead to making things worse off.
