Official Around Baseball 2023 Thread

I think I’d give Strider the ball in Game 1 and Fried in Game 2 to give Max some extra time off. This sets up Spencer for a potential Game 4 and Max as the stopper in a winner-take-all. Plus, I like Strider as the backup Game 1 starter because I think he'll use his closer-like mentality to an advantage. He's baseball's ultimate strike-out guy (very literally). In the playoffs, swing-and-miss stuff is so important. I think he shoves.

Solid plan

The AL West and WC race is gonna be crazy to see how it all unfolds. One of Houston/Toronto/Seattle/Texas is missing out. All have pretty difficult schedules and Houston/Texas/Seattle all play each other to end the year.

The only team that can beat the Braves is the Braves managed by twitner. This team is by far the best team. Bad play and a bad manager is about the only thing stoping this team. And I don’t expect either will stop them.

Meh. I still think they would be the team to beat in the AL if they make it.

If they win the division, their path to the WS is MUCH easier. 2 seed vs the Twins, where as if they're a WC, they'll have to go through one of Tor/Sea/Tex in a best of 3 then Tampa or Baltimore on the road. Then whoever wins the West w/o HFA. But i can see the argument to still favor them if they can get in.

The SP health/depth is pretty scary though at the moment

Had not realized that William Contreras has 5.1 fWAR this year (Murphy at 4.1)

They also got Payamps in that deal.

They gave up basically nothing

In Murphy’s defense… he’d be killing it in fWAR if he was treated like the primary catcher. But it makes the decision to give up real assets a bit strange. Front office needs to step in

My problem. Braves traded away good pieces to get a back up. And the same clowns saying Murphy was the star of the trade are all basically saying it is ok that he is a 50/50 guy at this point. Just keep billy and trade those guys for some pen depth if you only needed a back up catcher.

I predicted at the beginning that billy would out war Murphy. Problem is I didn’t think I would be right because of twitner.

Trying to find out where to post this. Is the national anthem still played before the Braves games and, if so, why isn't it televised?
