I may be wrong, but I suspect the risk of him accepting is sufficiently high that a QO is not likely in play. $20.5M would seem to be a lot for him, even for one year.

I think he’s on the cheaper end (along with pricier options like Teoscar Hernández and Lourdes Gurriel) of guys I expect the Braves to target for an LF platoon with an option-picked-up Eddie Rosario. The downside, unlike the pricier options, is he’s not really an everyday option if injury or ineffectiveness hit the OF; the upshot is his defense is much more of an asset.

I’d love to see the Braves truly upgrade LF, but I don’t see many options out there currently.

I admire the tenacity and willingness to come back, but what more does he have to prove? He's a surefire Hall of Famer by all reasonable measures. He's at 210 career wins and I don't see how he gets to 250, so I don't know what milestone he's chasing.

He could prove he isn't a bum in the playoffs. I know he will come back mid season because of injury but I think more starters reaching the end of their career should consider not playing a full season and starting mid season so they are not working down for the playoffs.

He's only 35 my guy. I know he hasn't been very healthy recently, but he's still pitching at a relatively high level.

Everyone above has provided good responses to my question about Kershaw. I just wonder if he's going to be one of those guys who hangs on too long and has a couple of terrible seasons that make a lot of people forget how dominant he has been. He then becomes one of those tragic figures that often populate the sports universe. But, even if his performance falls off dramatically he'll always have to great Liberace quote, who, when confronted with a spate of savage pans of his performance, responded "I cried all the way to the bank." to fall back on.

So Strider and Fried are obviously TOR guys, with Morton/Elder more of a #4 these days. Any of these FA SPs slot in nicely in the middle of the rotation with Elder/AJSS fighting for the #5 spot. I would suggest Lorenzen/Giolito may not be worth going after unless they can be had on a short deal.

I left out Gray, but his .297 slots him pretty high up this list.

White Sox don’t exercise Tim Anderson’s option. Could be an interesting buy low option. Then maybe trade Arcia while he has some value.
