Official 2024 Off-Season Thread!

That must be why your mom’s nickname for me is “AA”.

I haven't seen this EVs, Lift Angle, Etc., but he sure has been a shadow in recent years. Has played some CF, but he's a clear step-down from Hillard (and Hilliard is a pretty low bar for me). I could see him inked to a minor league deal. Braves don't really have much in terms of OF prospects right now.

The Braves have to completely rebuild all depth at SS and OF. If not guys like Haseley...who?

I probably should have been more clear. I think Haseley will be on a list of guys they could sign, but I don't think he merits a spot on the 40-man. You're right that they need to rebuild their depth at the upper levels of the system.

Yeah i think a lot of guys would be better bench players than Haseley would be.

Brewers trying to sign their top prospect to an extension before his ML debut. Likely gonna have to guarantee him 60+ million. And he's played only 6 games above AA.

LOL, we guaranteed Money Mike 72 million after he posted around 4 WAR through his first 4 months in the majors and the Brewers giving out almost as much for a guy who might never even post 4 WAR total in his career.

Inflation sucks

Did anyone see how the Sonny Gray contract was structured? 3 years / $75m

2024 - $10m
2025 - $25m
2026- $35m

2027- team option for $30m.

If the team picks up the option for 2027, Gray has the right to opt out of the deal and get a $5m buyout that would be spread out over 5 years.

Also gets a full no trade clause.

That’s wild

I'm of the opinion the Braves have 5 years until their window closes. That's when Acuna likely departs for a giant payday. At this point the goal should be to maximize the teams ability to win in those 5 years. If it comes at the cost of contending beyond the 5 year mark then so be it. That Gray contract would have been nice.
