I'm actually curious who you consider to be the top managerial tacticians currently in the game. I feel like there are currently less than I would have expected.
I get what you're saying. But the 20/20 hindsight on Fried here is fun. For starters, we were not coming close to matching what the Yankees gave him (nor would most any other team), and there was no indication he would have taken a discount. Apart from that, there are/were real concerns about...
And you can't even say the sport is in trouble, because fans continue to show up and attendence is strong. I just don't believe there is any vision for the long term health of the game though. This type of uneven playing field doesn't seem sustainable. It's only been made worse since the...
I was speculating that Ozuna could return as a cheap bench option. But I was not thinking he'd get nearly that much in free agency. Well beyond my comfort zone personally.
My guess is Bassitt is holding out for 3 years. He's quickly losing leverage though. Ozuna can't have much of a market. Offer him a few mil to come back.
My concern with it failing is the revenue certainty that would be lost that a team like the Braves have come to expect year after year. It seems like the teams who got booted from these regional networks over the past few years, and had MLB take over their streaming, are worse off.
I feel like Ozuna is someone who will wait out the off-season, waiting for a team to guarantee him a starting DH spot. Once that never materializes, he would probably be open to returning to the Braves as a bench bat for a few million, is my guess.
It's also important to note that even though many of us love William Contreras, it would appear he's surpassed all expectations with how good of a player he's become.
