Aces did not say "Laken Riley is more factually accurate."

He said "Laken Riley is much stronger emotionally."

Anyhow he can speak up for himself or not.

I'm sorry if y'all find it disturbing that I point out that the objection to the lies about Haitians eating people's pets was mostly on grounds of effectiveness. Other than you objecting to the idea of dehumanizing people. Aces and others are lucky to have you as a friend.
Yawn.

Chop - I don’t understand why you guys are so obsessed with this eating pets story when you have plenty of prove-able, relatable and indisputable cases for why immigration is a big issue and why (R) is stronger on the issue. Instead they’ve spent 3 weeks on pets and are no closer to the smoking gun than you were at the beginning. Now the issue is a meme and JD Vance sound bites saying he created the story.

Aces - This exactly. I don’t get it. Another unforced error by MAGA.

Thethe - It’s not an unforced error because you need something much stronger emotionally than an economic argument for most voters who just don't understand basic economics. That is what you don't guys see because you're blinded by your own intelligence.

Aces - Laken Riley is much stronger emotionally than an economic argument if that’s the card MAGA wants to play. Chop’s point is there are other, better, irrefutable things to point to rather than get dragged into this dopey pet barbeque did they/didn’t they saga for multiple weeks.

You got me…I’m both a fake libertarian AND a monster! Congratulations in the success of what’s become your main project.

I'm against use of categories such as religion, ethnicity, race as screens for who is considered eligible for immigration to this country. But of course we should screen for behavior such as criminal activity. And screening for political viewpoint based on social media activity is also a bad idea. That's McCarthyism to coin a phrase.
When it comes to crimes for American citizens, we should treat every person individually based on their merit and contribution and criminal activity.

Unfortunately, leftists disagree. Which is why they insist on asking for demographic data on college and job applications. which is why they kill educational gifted programs bc they find it discriminatory. Which is why they insist on voting ID laws as a racist concept. I could go on. But there is nothing more racist than a leftist.

when it comes to letting foreigners in the country... we are talking about policies at scale here. Sure, we could do deep background checks and extensiveive interviews and apply performance metrics, etc. That would be very costly, inefficient, and frankly impossible. a smarter approach would be to look at the macro data and create policy on areas we want more of and areas we want less of, and go from there

eh...someone complained about whites being demonized by some rando on the internet and i pointed out a few inconvenient thangs about the two men elected President and Vice President

demonization is a turrible thang whether it be against whites, darker-skinned people, Muslims, immigrants, etc...whether it be done on the basis of crazy made up stories or a crime by an individual

it is especially to be regretted when practiced by the two men holding the offices of President and Vice President

and it is lamentable that to point this out is "tiresome" to some (apologies if the "tiresome" quote is out of context or otherwise misleading)

That were criticized the moment they were said....

Move on my guy
eh...sorry but i'm not moving on when folks make a fetish of whites being demonized...it is entirely fair to point out that demonization occurs in a much more harmful way against darker-skinned people, immigrants and Muslims...by no less than our highest elected officials...i'm not talking about some dude like George Wallace who was elected over 50 years ago

with all due respect you are free to find my posts "tiresome" and to wish I "move on"...and i am free to exercise a different judgement about whether we should move on and let it go...last time i checked this was a discussion board

When I said that MAGA was making an unforced error with the pets story (thus revealing my true racist self) you replied:

“seems like political genius to me

hopefully Vance keeps providing reporters more tips and rumors to run to ground”

Was there a reason you chose at the time not to scold me for my complicity in demonizing darker skinned people and immigrants, and instead chose to comment on MAGA’s strategic brilliance?

"much more harmful"

than something like this from a university professor?
“The solution to racism is to kill all white people.” - Mark McPhail Indiana University

i think that was an interesting and maybe even illuminating exchange

to make clear about my part of the exchange...i was thinking some really awful people were digging a hole for themselves and was enjoying it

as for your attitude regarding the "unforced error" i have theories

yeah...i'd say darker-skinned people, Muslims and immigrants have and continue to suffer from far more harmful and pervasive demonization than white people do...not to say it is ok to demonize whites....Timothy McVeigh is no more a representative of whites than the killer of Laken Riley representative of immigrants

grok is pretty woke these days so take with grain of salt

Quantifying disproportionate demonization on Twitter (now X) is tricky because it depends on how you define "demonization," measure it, and account for platform dynamics like echo chambers or algorithmic amplification. There’s no clean dataset or universal metric to pin this down definitively, but I can piece together insights from studies and platform trends up to my knowledge cutoff, focusing on the groups you mentioned: whites, darker-skinned people, Muslims, and immigrants.

Approach to Quantification

To approximate this, we’d look at:

  1. Volume of negative sentiment: Frequency of hate speech, slurs, or dehumanizing language targeting each group.
  2. Disproportionality: Comparing negative sentiment to the group’s representation in the population or on the platform.
  3. Context and impact: How narratives (e.g., stereotypes, conspiracy theories) amplify harm and whether they trigger offline consequences like hate crimes.

Studies often use natural language processing (NLP) to analyze tweets for sentiment, topic modeling to identify themes, or network analysis to track how hate spreads. I’ll draw on such research and reason through the relative scale of demonization.

Rough Ranking (Most to Least Demonized)

  1. Muslims: Highest due to intense, globalized Islamophobia and small population size.
  2. Immigrants: Near-tied with Muslims, fueled by xenophobia and crisis-driven spikes.
  3. Darker-skinned people: High, especially anti-Black hate, with deep historical roots.
  4. Whites: Lowest, with demonization confined to specific subcultures.

eh...i suggest you stop whining each time some rando posts something that demonizes whites (of course you are as free to disregard that advice as i am to disregard chop's)

I actually whine when the country has instituted a massive systemic racist policy against whites. And elected officials and educators and media members feel emboldened to call for the murder of whites with no concern of pushback from tolerant leftists like yourself

And yet, whites are the economic lifeblood for those other groups you mentioned just to survive

I can only speak about the people I work with in my department. We have non-white immigrants from Jamaica, Ecuador, South Korea, China and Indonesia. All massive ballers and great colleagues. I also have white colleagues from Appalachia (Kentucky, Western Virginia). Also wonderful people and great contributors (in spite of their funny and occasionally incomprehensible accents).

It is this openness and diversity that makes America great. May it continue.

By all means

But I’d rather you not take untrue shots at my character (i.e. imply I’m a racist because you can’t be bothered to check what I actually wrote)

Who do you think the graduates of these instructors would vote for in a NYC mayor Dem primary?
