New Manager Discussion

My biggest fear with this is that Weiss is given a really long leash and in 3 years the window is closed with nothing to show for it.

Is the Braves roster even that talented?

No depth. Injuries have placed a ceiling on some of our stars (Riley, Albies, Strider, Murphy).

It’s not inconceivable a lot of the guys rebound, but it’s hard to see a 100 win roster without squinting really hard.

We are at the point of our contention window where a managerial edge is needed most.
This is why I wanted an analytically inclined manager. Odds are that we are not going to be a 100 win juggernaut next year. We’re going to need to win at the margins. Weiss has given us no reason to believe he can do that.

The Braves beat is pretty pathetic.

for all his sucking up DOB never has any scoop.

The big fella does a little better sometimes but the breaks always seem to come from national sources
You'd figure that O'Brien would get some pillow talk from Anthopoulos from all of the spooning Dave wants to do with him.

Hopefully they will get a bench coach that at least has knowledge of how a slide rule works. For you youngsters, the slide rule was our hand calculator before the ones that ran on batteries were invented. One step beyond the abacus.

Gross… I hope it’s a boring hire that surprises and works well but very uninspiring. In his defense on the Colorado job, I’m not sure anyone can have real success there. Also Chipper seems to love the hire so maybe we can convince him to be hitting coach? Looking for anything positive here

I hope Weiss is different from Snit but it's hard to get excited about this. Lombard as bench coach and Chipper as hitting coach would help.

Chipper already said his wife and kids have given him the green light to spend more time working with the team again. Can't remember if he implied full-time or just like 75% of the time, in that case he wouldn't be the actual hitting coach just like a consultant.
