New Manager Discussion

I bet you he gets Washington and EY back on board so all of you weirdos who thought they were the answer will be more accepting.

Curious to see if this decision has any influence on how the front office approaches the off-season personnel-wise. Like Waitingfor2017 just posted, this smacks of "we've built a great team and the window remains open so we're only going to adjust around the margins." I respect Anthopoulos, but he seems to have this stubborn streak in him that just refuses to look at anything beyond the extensions. It's like he's ride-or-die with the on-field product he's constructed. If Nick Allen is playing SS and batting 9th on Opening Day 2026, something will have gone terribly wrong,
I agree 50. He's incredibly stubborn and I can see him adding some depth pieces and a so so SS and expecting and hoping everybody stays healthy next year

Folks might want to start wrapping their heads around the possibility that the window is not closing….it may already be closed. This current roster is not going to get less old and less injury prone, and player usage is not going to improve under snit jr. If AA turns in another offseason as bad as the last one, the run is likely over.

Then he should be fired.
If that happens then I completely agree. He seems like he's gonna live and die by the extensions and thinking everybody will rebound and stay healthy just like he did last offseason. I guarantee he low balled Kim and Boras and we know that doesn't work with Boras. If we miss the playoffs again next year then he needs to be on the hot seat

I suppose it's possible that the month-long delay in hiring Weiss was the product of an actual schism within the front office and there was a struggle over which direction to take the managerial hire -- Anthopolous wanted someone younger and outside the organizational culture, Snitker and others wanted Weiss, and ultimately the Braves Way guys won.

But, honestly, I think I'm done with Kremlinology like that. Fans do things like this all the time -- every good move is the product of the GM they like, and every bad move is because a terrible owner or team president or whoever overruled the virtuous GM. Yankee fans did this in the mid-00s, blaming every bad move on Steinbrenner and attributing every smart move to Cashman. At this point, I think the weight of the evidence is that Anthopolous is more or less running things the way he wants and he's responsible for the team's decisions.

The most important thing is that Alex has the resources to improve the club. We can't have the same shit as last year. Simple as that.

Wasn’t Walt a manager already. You pretty much know what you are getting already. Thankfully this will sink Alex Athletics and maybe the Braves can do better next time.
