Around the Majors - 2022 Version

Unfortunately Heyman's probably right - they have the players to get it done AND can actually afford to pay him to hit between Goldy and Arenado until he becomes a free-agent. Several of the packages I've seen the talking heads propose wouldn't hurt them enough to keep them from pulling the...

You're exactly the type of 4 year old I worry about giving that type of leverage to - thank God the Braves didn't allow you to be in that position.

Arenado and Goldschmidt placed on the restricted list - unvaccinated. Makes it tough to make up ground.

Missed the bump to $125K in the later rounds for this draft - you're right.

GDT 7/24/22: Braves vs Angels - Heredia gets a start

Definitely ignores the platoon advantage, so you don't do it against Suarez - but is anybody really worried about punting one spot in the order against MadBum? As I mentioned, he's the only other LH starter they're likely going to see while Duvall is down. I'd think you play Ozuna on defense...

That's why Grissom would SERIOUSLY shoot up the rankings lists if he could remain at SS - IMO. If you knew for sure you had an in-house replacement for Dansby there's at least a chance you could buy out Riley's first three free-agent years and spend less than a Swanson extension will cost. If...

It is - unfortunately the world we live in these days is dominated by the extremes.

No. If anyone selected in the first 10 rounds isn't signed without going more than 5% over your total pool you HAVE TO meet their asking price or re-work all the other deals. Again, there's not much chance they backed themselves into a corner where that happens. However, in the event McCabe...

You just refuse to read entire posts, don't you? What part of "that doesn't typically affect prospect rankings" did you misunderstand? Moving Grissom to 2B or 3B is useless if he remains a Brave - which All-Star (Albies or Riley) that's under control for the next several years do you plan to...

I said it's likely nothing to worry about. Just don't like giving that kind of leverage to a player - particularly one you don't really need - by spending the extra money on the kids taken in rounds 11-20 BEFORE you've taken care of business first.

GDT 7/24/22: Braves vs Angels - Heredia gets a start

Tempting fate, I know, but I don't see the big deal. The only LH SPs they're likely to see over the next 10 days are Suarez and possibly Bumgarner - can always have Ozuna play LF on those days and let Contreras or d'Arnaud DH if Snitker wants the extra RH bat in the lineup. Given MadBum's 4.68...

Because if McCabe decides he's worth substantially more than Alvarez the money isn't there to sign him. That $528,380 is including the 5% overage - there's no more to spend when they get to that point without giving up a pick.

The problem with jumping Grissom up the lists is probably something we don't usually see in prospect rankings - the makeup of the MLB roster likely hurts him. If he can't stick at SS, he literally has nowhere to play in a couple years if he's still in the organization. He's not going to stay on...

Quite sure it's far from anything to worry about, but always hate it when ONE of the kids taken in the first ten rounds drags things out. After paying extra for Mejia, Kilpatrick, and Jackson, they're down to $528,380 left to spend. Sitting around waiting to hear about a bat-first 1B-only guy...

Can you (or any of the analytically-advanced crowd, for that matter) post an FV chart? 45, 40+, 40 range SPs and hitters are the only ones with "value" in trades, right? (Updating my chart with the new rankings.)

If McCabe signs for slot, that would leave $124,480 for signings beyond the 10th round - 7th round money (slot for Maier was $215,400). Noah Williams (18th round) already tweeted he was going to school. I'd imagine that's probably enough to buy Christian Jackson out of his Georgia State...

MLB Network’s Bold (and crazy) Prediction: Angels trade Ohtani to Atlanta

Absolutely...insight into how short and snug Lauren Shehadi can get her skirts for the banner walk every morning and whether Keuchel's so hacked off over his pitching woes he makes the Mrs. (Kelly Nash) wear something you wouldn't see in a porno when she's on Quick Pitch once in a blue moon.

Counting the 5% overage that leaves $603,380 for McCabe and any + $100K signings from the later rounds.
