The correlation between line drives (batted ball profile) and BA is not there yet. The reason, I suppose, is a sawed up soft liner is considered a "line drive," which people typically associate a hard hit ball with. And a ground ball could be scolded or barely touched. We will probably get...

How has Johnson not been released?

Johnson would be a good buy low candidate for a team needing a RH reliever (Nats?). Cutting him would be stupid; he's suffering from this thing called bad luck.

How many players have a >.400 BaBIp over >500 at bats?

I love Acuna, but .411 is not within the realm of possibility for any substantial sample size.

What is it based on? What did he do?

What is this based on? I am legitimately curious because I know him and the family. Actually about to play some golf with his Dad. Whether or not he is a good player, he is a good dude and I would be surprised if he caused issues in the clubhouse.

We have one of the worst MLB teams right now

Probably. It's best to sit back another year and see what we have. You don't lose anything by winning 72 games instead of 78.

We have one of the worst MLB teams right now

The thought of this team winning 85 games is and always was a thethe level pipedream. They just aren't anywhere close to it and 2-3 tweaks/roster improvements aren't making up that difference in 1 year unless we somehow acquire Harper, Trout, and Kershaw. Maintain the status quo and develop...

    FG Mid-Season Top 100

It is a combination of production and projection. It would be hard to argue Albies has a higher upside.

    FG Mid-Season Top 100

Yeah, I would think top 3.

    FG Mid-Season Top 100

Assuming they were roughly similar (Rosario slightly better in AAA), wouldn't you take the larger player that would naturally be projected to have more power?

This has to be a joke, right?

Why Albies needs to stop hitting so many fly balls

Tomorrow, you should tell us why Max Fried needs to stop walking so many hitters. Explain why walking a hitter an inning is bad.

Why Albies needs to stop hitting so many fly balls

I didn't realize it was simply based on the majors or in other words less than half of what is needed to perform any meaningful analysis.

    Stanton Clears Waivers

The Braves cannot afford him and realistically expect to field a team. But, I would have claimed him if I was a big market team.

Why Albies needs to stop hitting so many fly balls

We need to start a worthless analysis based on extremely small sample sizes so I don't bother to open. This is slightly more beneficial than analyzing week old fielding data.

He's also never hit in the major leagues before.

His projection seems pretty reasonable, maybe a bit optimistic. His steamer projection (yeah, a bit pessimistic) is .263/.316/.414. His 2016 season was .311/.387/.432 in A ball with a .359 BABIP. I would guess .275/.320/.430..........and it would be a damn fine season for a 20 year old.

That OPS would put him in the top 30 in history for aged 20 season. Ted Williams 1.045 Trout .9636 Correa .857 Heyward .849 Stanton .833 Cabrera .793 are some notables.
