GDT 10/31/21: Braves vs Astros - World Series Game 5

Bust label disappears when you are a huge part of getting the team one of 4 wins needed for a ring. That could be huge for Wright moving forward.

GDT 10/17/21: Braves vs Dodgers - NLCS Game 2

Apparently even if Duval opts out of the mutual option, the Braves still have an arbitration year left on him. So he can only hit FA if the Braves don't want him back. With the uncertainty of the top OF prospects, Acuna's knee recovery and Ozuna's legal problems, the Braves would seem destined...

GDT 10/17/21: Braves vs Dodgers - NLCS Game 2

I looked at Cot's again. It has Duvall with a 2022 mutual option at $7 million with a $3 million buy out. So Duvall is going to cost us a net $4 million to keep on the roster next year? That's close to a lock, for us, right? Yet with the season he put together he has to think he's looking...

GDT 10/17/21: Braves vs Dodgers - NLCS Game 2

Cots' has Duvall on a team option where, when the buyout is considered, he only costs like $4 million next year. Is that right? If so, I'm definitely bringing Duval back. The others have to depend upon Osuna's outcome. If he and Acuna are back, no need. Assuming Osuna's not back, Soler cheap?

GDT 9/30/21: Braves vs Philthies - 4 the Sweep and the Division

The additional playoff experience for Fried and Anderson is huge. It seems to me from just watching on TV, Ozzie Albies is the most important player on this team. Not because of what he does offensively or defensively, but because everyone seems to gravitate to his sense of humor.

KLAW article on being wrong on Riley

According to ESPN stats, Riley leads all qualified MLB 3B in OPS. How much money could you have made on that bet in Vegas prior to the season? Riley is the youngest on the list of the 10 qualifying (3.1 PA/game).

KLAW article on being wrong on Riley

For those high on the futures of Shewmake or Langeliers (and I'm in that camp), Riley is 7 months older.

Alright. I've said my bit. If you're comfortable what you've been writing given Riley's season and feel it needs no revision, we don't need to discuss it further.

    Austin Riley Love Thread

En you weren't the only person on this Board that declared Riley dead following last year's post season flame out. As I say, I wasn't specifically calling anyone out. Most on this board love the prospects and love to talk about what if when dealing with prospects. That's why I come here. I...

    Austin Riley Love Thread

Hold up a second. I'm not calling anyone out specifically, but someone looked at some metric and announced he could improve, but he'd essentially be the first player in history to improve considerably on whatever metric was given. You can't just fall back on I said he might improve. Either...

    Top everyday prospects

Pache (22) wilted under the pressure in ATL. We've seen it with pitchers the last few years. AAA stats say he's pretty good at home, but bad on the road. All in his head? Waters (22) still strikes out to much, but he is having a great July. I went looking for good news in his development...

    GDT: Cubs @ Braves 4/29

This. In 2019 the league finally got the book on him. July 2020 looked like he was near hopeless. Then he got hot in August (.875 OPS) only to see the pressure of the postseason force him back into a near unplayable level. August 2020 looked more like 2019 than 2021. He struck out 24 times...

4/21/21: Braves @ Skanks - Run it back

Small sample size example... Riley's splits are absurd. .174 at home/.310 away. .182 during the day/.300 at night. Why? He's 5/8 with 3BB and 2 HBP in the last 3 games. All at night. All on the road. That said, Riley's K% is down around 20% and his BB% is up around 10% so far in 2021...

    2021 MLB Draft

Someone can coach me up on what's objectionable about the GA voting law. As I understand it: 1. You can't offer someone something of value (water/food) while they are waiting in line to vote; 2. You have to prove who you are in order to vote; 3. You can't give your ballot to someone else to turn...

    Fangraphs Interview with Shewmake

His interview kind of has echoes of how Soroka used to come off as a prospect. Seems way more advanced in his approach than would be expected. .320 with 60 doubles sounds like a fine approach to me.

Looking Ahead - The 2020 Offseason Thread

Just curious as to why everyone is clamoring for a back-up SS? Who can you sign that would be better defensively than Albies? Who could we sign as a back-up SS that isn't a weak bat off the bench when compared to folks that play 2b/3b? If we lose both of our middle infielders, simultaneously...
