For the record, don't think Beachy and Strider have similar arsenals, outcomes, pitches, etc. I just had the same reaction as Enscheff that Strider kind of looks like Beachy did standing on the mound. Their combinations of stuff/control seem quite different.

I get strong Beachy vibes from him too- not sure why other than they seem to have similar builds. Beachy a couple inches taller though.

Like Carp, I'd love an innings eater who could pitch to a 4.00-4.50 ERA. Unfortunately, that person doesn't exist right now. Quick flip through baseballsavant profiles of the starting pitchers available (Teheran, Richards, Cueto, Urena, Arrieta, Archer, Anderson, Happ) it becomes quite clear...

I think we're hoping for an Anibal Sanchez type pickup as final roster cuts are made. I expect that whoever it is will not work out nearly as well as Anibal did.

To an extent, you're proving his point. The Royals won the WS in 2015 and the only way to pull it off was to be awful for a decade before and awful for a decade after. The Marlins are similar- they were fortunate to win a World Series each of the two times they won 90 games and made the...

He is going to be #1 or #2 in our system in a hurry, IMO.

Anyone watch that half inning from Tonkin? Looked good enough for me to look him up. Appeared in 121 games for the Twins between 2013-2017 with pedestrian numbers that seemingly got worse every year. Gave up 25 homers in 141 innings, but has some good spin rates and had a K rate that hovered...

The first paragraph is fair- I'm sure there are things that we don't know about that sometimes influence decision-making. The second paragraph less so- if that were true, we'd see Snit making decisions in accordance with the numbers and not in defiance of them. I think most here wish there were...

Boils down to Freddie’s agents trying to play hardball and losing. Braves made him an offer in 2020 that was low because of COVID, they wanted more. Braves upped the offer before the 2021 season, they wanted more. Braves upped the offer to 5/140 after this season, they wanted more. Anthopolous...

https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/33536546/inside-yearlong-contract-saga-split-freddie-freeman-atlanta-braves I just have that much more respect for AA coming out of this. He handled this the right way. Freddie tried to play the game, and he got beat.

I’m bad at links, but Holly Baylor on Twitter says the Padres are ‘under the impression’ that Soler will be accepting their 3 year $42m offer.

I'd say that's a little harsh. He had a really solid age 20 season in AA. He definitely hasn't been the same since missing the 2020 season. He's not a surefire starter, he's not a 'top' prospect, and he doesn't have any trade value. But he's definitely still a real prospect who could turn into a...

    Braves sign Rosario - 2 yr / 18M (3rd year club option)

I tend to think that the GM has more information than me. Maybe it leads to me giving them the benefit of the doubt more often than I should, but for all we know Soler said two weeks ago "no thanks, I have an offer for five years somewhere else," every other free agent outfielder told AA they...

I’m surprised by that. They have Rosario as about a 1 WAR player. I don’t view the two as comparable today.

    Braves on TV

I had the same issue when I lived in NC. Drove me crazy. I'll also say that you can find virtually any sporting event streamed online for free these days if you're willing to look. I've never been unable to find a game with a little searching on Reddit.

    Drew Waters

For a second there I thought I clicked on The Locker Room. #mems I really, really hope Waters becomes something. I'm extremely not optimistic that he will. That said, it wouldn't surprise me to see Harris in the Atlanta outfield this year. Given the bulk he seems to have put on, I'd love to see...

    Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

We are definitely an injury away from seeing some stretches like we saw in 2020 when we were throwing Milone, Erlin, Touki, Wright, Ynoa, and Tomlin out there for a spell and needed the offense to put up 6+ to win. But I do like the odds of Davidson, Muller, 2022 Ynoa, 2022 Wright, 2022 Touki...
