they lost in 7 before they were really all that good, and ran into two historically good champs in Toronto and the Yankees. After that they weren't really in running for best team any more but still won a lot.

It basically was a safe move, imo. They just traded money for a flyer on a potential low cost, controllable regular in future years. Didn't work but there was very little cost to it.

or we could debate what an alternative reality would look like if AA chose to performatively fire a guy who didn't deserve to be fired.

no I really want to litigate something or another about Charlie Culberson. It s super important.

I don't think that Acuña is going to be the primary DH, because I do not think he will want to do that and that matters. If he is cool with it then ok. If not, that makes signing a major OF more difficult as you have two other starting OF pencilled in. Bellinger as a super utility guy...

35 with an club option maybe for 25? That's the kind of deal that AA might like, but what kind of prospect capital does that take? Seems like a deal that is technically underwater if you figure him at 3 wins, but the ability to get a limited commitment for that kind of level guy seems...

Probably, but I'm not going to think this free agent pitching class is deep or especially likely to have bargains for your favorite guys. I've explained my thoughts on each m and that's all I can really do. Atlanta would be wise to sign a SP of course. Almost goes without saying.

I can't imagine that very many clubs put much stress on ERA at this point except in terms of winning the press conference. Cease's underlying numbers are better in every respect with less injury risk and much more track record. All the expected stats put him mid rotation at worst. King on...

I think I disagree. I believe there are very few guys on the market that are conceivably front of rotation guys and I think they will all get big deals. Cease to me is the best guy currently know to be on the market. Valdez seems to be the media guy. If your point is that you can fall...

It is funny that the Braves are doing this insanely hot finish to a tank season again. I guess the Braves do this in bad years a Like the Mets hilariously collapse in their good years.

Valdez (32) - The "headliner" of the free agent class and I’m sort, but Atlanta is surely not going to be the high bid on a 32 year old pitcher seeking big dollars and years. For what it’s worth he took a step back this year. His expected stats trended towards average-ish He gets hit pretty...

A couple of years of Bichette at short followed by moving him to second would work fine for Braves, I think, and you are getting more prime years than most free agents. But his number is going to be silly.

The pitching list just doesnt blow my skirt up and I'm not sure they'll be available. As always you will be paying a lot for declining guys except seems like a lower ceiling class than usual. The lack of headliners makes good deals a little less likely.
