I'd be curious about Chase Headley too. Clint Frazier is a good prospect, but I'm not over-the-moon on him. Something like Teheran + for Frazier / Headley could be interesting. Need to find a way to move Markakis for 50 cents on the dollar though.
News gets a little better on Whitley. Sounds like he signed a split-contract, so the out of options issue is moot? Good 6th starter to stash at AAA, if so.

Good with all these, though I think I would have preferred to non-tender Sam Freeman too. No regrets on the Braves trading for Adams. Very low cost, and he gave the team a boost. The arbitration system is a little off-kilter when it comes to guys with his skill set. He'll sign for less than...

Braves have until 8 PM tonight to set their 40-man for the Rule 5 draft. Sounds like Ricardo Sanchez needs to be protected. I'm hoping they protect Demeritte too. On the fence on some other like Dustin Peterson, Pike, and a couple of the relief prospects.
DOB interview with Stan Kasten from LAD (and formerly ATL), who gushes over AA. Exciting stuff.

Lengthy article with a lot of quotes from AA's media availability at the GM meetings today. Seems like they are leaning toward pursuing an external 3B option, and maybe an option that requires more than a 1 year commitment...
I see Anthopolous and Cherington as the two best options that have been mentioned, so I won't be disappointed if it's one of those two. Both have warts, but I don't look at their prior stints as disqualifying when it comes to getting a second opportunity. Anthopolous' role in building /...
DOB had the scoop on the exact day of Blakely's second meeting. Then a day after that meeting, he gets this scoop. Seems that Blakely or his rep is feeding this to DOB. Puts Hart and Braves in terrible spot just days before GM meetings. Karma.
Hart is a goner, methinks. Just not tenable to renew his contract (even if McGuirk wants to) now that this is in the public sphere,

I'm not saying Weiss is a true-believer by any means, but I think he'll play the role he needs to regarding the SABR stuff. He just needs to be the liaison between the analytics department and the the coaching staff and players. That is the role he played in CO, and it's a job that should be...
