GDT #42: 5/18/14: Braves (Floyd) vs Cardinals (Garcia '14 debut)

You are misunderstanding. I don't think Uggla makes this team win. But we don't have anyone to replace him that is any better, or arguably, that isn't worse. So, imo, playing him instead of Pastor or Pena does not increase the chances of the opponent winning.

I'm not claiming Uggla makes this team win, fwiw. But many seem to think that playing him increases the chances of our opponent winning. And that simply hasn't been the case this year.

This is fun. You make up numbers while I give you real stats.

Yeah, he's great if you throw him 6 balls out of 8 pitches.

Wow. If the ump had called that pitch correctly, it certainly would have been Uggla's fault.

Being 1/2 game out of first on May 18th isn't reason to start making drastic moves. Hopefully the people making decisions aren't swayed so much by the result of one game.

Lucky for you, we didn't have to see BJ and we still got a K!

Ah, so your argument is that he shouldn't have been watching the play in front of him. Got it.

Well, he didn't really have much a chance to look toward home plate during the play on account of the clown show that we had going in center field.

That play never happens. How was he supposed to instinctively know where the runner was? Why wasn't someone telling him where the runner was? It took Schafer making two terrible plays to even put Uggla in a position with the ball.....so, yes, it is 100% on Schafer. And I'm by no means an...

Uggla is terrible.....but that play is 100% on Schafer. First he didn't catch a routine fly ball and then he missed the cutoff man (Simmons). Blaming that run on Uggla is nothing more than piling on, imo.

That's right. Call is made in NYC.

Might as well give him a chance. All of our outfielders have been stinking up the joint.

    GDT #19 4/21/14: Marlins (Koehler) @ Braves (Teheran), 7:10

So I wasn't watching the Heyward bunt.....was that confirmed to be a call from the dugout or was he bunting on his own?

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

I will be upset if they spend money on a retractable roof. I'm pretty sure they aren't even considering it. It simply isn't necessary in Atlanta. With the drainage technology these days, rain outs are almost unheard of - even with the wet summer they were few and far between. And baseball is...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

How many rainouts per year have the Braves had since 1997? Less than 1? Atlanta's weather is great - no need for a retractable roof.
