GDT: 8/1/14...10:10 PM EST...Braves (No Heyward) vs. Padres

On the other hand, OBP is a pretty big deal and I don't find it amusing that we have the position player with the lowest OBP leading off.

GDT: 07/30/2014 Braves @ Dodgers (Heyward Still Not In Lineup)

BJ sucks. He needs to hit eighth. We need Heyward back. La Stella rocks. If only we had replaced Uggla earlier we might have another win or two.

GDT 7/25/14: Braves (Wood) host retooled Padres

Chip on Upton hitting first: "Is he hitting .300? No. Is he getting on base and scoring runs? Yes." Meanwhile, over in reality his OBP while hitting 1st is .306. That is not good.

GDT 7/24/14 Braves (Harang) vs Marlins (Alvarez); 7:10 ET

Simmons not being in the game has already cost a run. But he does need the occasional day off.

Melvin Upton rumor from Peter Gammons

Heyward could play center. I doubt they want him to do it long term because of wear and tear, but he'd probably be fine for half a year. So Heyward to center, Upton to right, Gattis could play left, Bethancourt/Laird catching. I doubt they're trying desperately to unload him though. Maybe...

    GDT 7/7/14: BRAVES (Minor) @ LetsGOes (Dice-K)

I don't know where we'd acquire a dominant lefty reliever. Maybe we'll get incredibly lucky and Venters will come back and pitch like he did in 2011, but that seems unlikely.

GDT: 7/02/14 - Braves vs. Mets

Coming into today - Heyward with RISP: .300/.394/./467 Heyward with men on: .297/.374/.446 Although he hasn't delivered the past couple days it hasn't been an issue for him over the year.

GDT: 7/01/14 - Braves vs. Mets

To be fair, Heyward does have one of the highest batting averages with runners in scoring position on the team. Coming into tonight he was hitting .305/.400/.475 with RISP. So I think most of his lack of RBI's should be attributed to his hitting leadoff for most of the year.

GDT 6-28-14 (Game 1 of DH): Braves (Santana) at Philadelphia (R. Hernandez)

Heywards has walked 8 times in the past week. That's one more walk then Chris Johnson has had all season. Yet we don't have Heyward at the top of the lineup. Using Simmons with a 7 run lead?

GDT: #76 8:10 EST (Wood) Braves @ (McHugh) Stros'.

He only made two starts in the minors stretching out. His last one was only 75 pitches. I guess they wanted to keep him under 90 today.

Gattis played some first last year didn't he?

GDT: #76 8:10 EST (Wood) Braves @ (McHugh) Stros'.

Wood only made two starts in the minors. His last outing he only threw 75 pitches. They are probably still stretching him out and might want to keep him around 90 pitches tonight, so eight innings might be it for Wood. Although it is a little early bullpen start for the ninth.

GDT: #74 1:35 EST (Santana) Braves @ (Roark) Nats.

I know it's been said dozen of times, but I just do not understand Fredi's insistence on batting B.J. second. I wonder if B.J. dips under .200 if he will finally move him. Moving BJ to the eight spot might actually help him. He takes a lot of called third strikes and with the pitcher behind...

I wish our manager would stop taking out TLS for defense. If he is going to take out anyone it should be Johnson.

Neither of those called strikes to Minor were actually in the zone.

It's the free game of the day. You can change it to Atlanta's broadcast. Usually I like listening to other teams broadcasters just for a change of pace, but the Nat's announcers are so bad I just can't.

GDT: #71. 7:05 PM EST (Floyd) Braves @ (Zimmerman) Nats

No, he came back from that, although his fracture was a bad one. Zumaya tore his UCL in 2012 and needed Tommy John Surgery. After that he retired.

GDT: #71. 7:05 PM EST (Floyd) Braves @ (Zimmerman) Nats

Well, it's not the UCL but he'll still be out for awhile. How long depends on the severity of the fracture, probably at least a couple months - likely longer.

GDT: #71. 7:05 PM EST (Floyd) Braves @ (Zimmerman) Nats

Wood was already sent to AAA to stretch his arm for starting. He's made two starts down there and given up one run in 8.2 innings. 8 K's.

GDT: #71. 7:05 PM EST (Floyd) Braves @ (Zimmerman) Nats

Well, he's our best option if we don't want the wear and tear on Heyward in CF.
