GDT: 7/01/14 - Braves vs. Mets

Heyward with the patented groundout to 2b. Heyward's at 30 RBI's this year. I realize he was at leadoff a lot, but 60 RBI's a year is not enough for a hitter of his caliber.

Team just doesn'r score runs, CJ and BJ are even lower in RBI's. Somebody's got to start hitting with RISP.

And our HR's are way down from last year, can't understand that.

None of that's going to get any easier with Gattis being hurt, either. It's also very difficult to score runs when we feel the need to have low OBP guys hitting at the top of the order. I wish we could go out and make a trade, but we don't really have anywhere to put anyone.

To be fair, Heyward does have one of the highest batting averages with runners in scoring position on the team. Coming into tonight he was hitting .305/.400/.475 with RISP.

So I think most of his lack of RBI's should be attributed to his hitting leadoff for most of the year.

Another HR to a leftie-- 2 run shot this time--

Computes very well with this--- from DOB

More on the woes that face Minor--- from DOB

"Minor is 1-4 with a 4.33 ERA and .297 opponents’ average in six starts at Turner Field, and he’s allowed eight homers in 35 1/3 innings at home. That included two homers among the 11 hits he gave up against the Angels in five innings of his last home start June 15."

Want more convincing???

"On first pitches this season, opponents have hit .459 (17-for-37) with five doubles, two homers, .757 slugging percentage. After he gets ahead in counts 0-1, opponents 32-for-145 (.221) with .261 OBP. But after he gets behind 1-0, they’ve hit .337 (29-for-86) with a .420 OBP against him."

Still not enough ----

" Left-handed hitters are batting .364 (20-for-55) with six walks, 11 strikeouts and a .419 OBP against the lefty. However all 11 homers against him have been hit by right-handers, who’ve batted .272 (58-for-213) with 22 extra-base hits, 14 walks, 54 strikeouts and a .323 OBP against him. Lefties have a .491 slugging percentage against him, righties .484."

Night mare over!!!!! Take your pick, bet against Minor and take the Mutts, or bet for Braves hitters vs Dice K by picking the Braves.

This is what p*sses me off about Minor. Your team gives you the lead. That's when you have to step on the opposition's throat. He comes out and proceeds to run an egg farm.

I haven't followed that closely this year, but you make a strong point. Braves have had every iteration of The Three Stooges near the bottom of the line-up for much of the season.

I'm honestly thinking he is what he is...

He's 26 years and we've waiting what will be nearly 5 seasons for his ass to turn the corner and it hasn't. Wouldn't be mad at all if the front office decided to dump him.
