    2025-2026 offseason thread

The whole point is the Rays didn’t want to pay him $16m in 2026. They put him on waivers to shed that likely salary. From the Braves’ perspective, it’s not that strange: he’s a very good defensive infielder with strong on-base skills who could outperform his contract just by getting back to...

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Baldwin has a full 1.0 fwar lead on Horton, whose ERA is about a run better than his peripherals. It’d be a travesty if Horton was awarded ROY over Baldwin, at this point; but hopefully the Braves can help with that regression to Horton’s inputs and put thing thing to bed for Baldwin.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

Shoulder over the offseason, delaying his start to 2025. And then apparently some back issues have sent him to the IL twice since he’s returned from the shoulder. Solid bounce back play, given his prior levels of performance, on-base ability, defensive skill/flexibility. And if he were to...

    2025-2026 offseason thread

I’m hoping, as chop suggests, this further indicates the Braves will be substantial spenders ahead of 2026. If healthy, Kim is a very useful roster piece.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

He has a $16m player-option for 2026 he’s sure to pick up. So he’s either going to be a pricey utility infielder who can pick it at SS, or the Braves plan to start him at SS and think he can bounce back to the 2.5+ fwar player he was 2022-2024. I’d still like to see them go after Bichette...

Braves picking up Ha-Seong Kim off waivers from the Rays. He should be an interesting tryout for 2026.

GDT 8-30: College Football or Braves?

I want the picks and pool money. (And a new manager. And several key FA additions.)

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

The farm is making strides and should be top-twenty this offseason. Big lift. And a clutch 2026 draft would elevate it further.

    GDT 8-25: Striding in Miami

Still time to go on a nice run of losses. But the offense waking up like this doesn’t inspire confidence.

Don’t look now, but Southisene is up to batting .300 with an .833 OPS after his 2-4 night with a double. Not bad for a guy getting his feet wet a level above where he should probably be this season.

GDT 8-23: Nick Allen's Day Off

He’s actually quite good, tonight’s performance notwithstanding. Have you ever not overreacted to a single have?

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

I don’t think getting his feet wet is the worst thing. But it highlights the collective idiocy of ending the FCL essentially at the same time as the draft.

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

He was really thrown into the deepend, given the level of competition he’s faced heretofore in his life. Will be interesting to see how he responds over the final games of 2025 and into 2026.

GDT 8/20/25 - Braves vs White Sox - Getting More Waldrep Data

Many of your posts begin with this premise (and overreact from there).

Glad they’re being protective of Strider in what amounts to a rehab season. Time to do the same with Acuña.

    Riley Out For Season

One more season of arb control in 2026. So he’s definitely an option. Of course they cut Laureano when he had the same status last year …
