'16 starting rotation

We'll be in a position to take on 30-40M in salary for 2016. With the money we have pay for a third basemen, a catcher, a left fielder and one or two relievers. I think it is unlikely we prioritize a starting pitcher over those needs.

Right now the Braves are on track to have committed somewhere between $50-$60M going into the offseason which includes the $7.5M owed to CJ and the $8M owed to Maybin (two players who very well could and IMO should not be around even if it takes losing Maybin as the Price to get out from under CJ).

If you move them off, you have somewhere between $35M and $45M committed so I would say that $50-60M is a possibility given the right circumstances.

I'd go Tehran, Wood, Miller, Wisler, ManBan. I think that team could be in the playoffs with Cespedes in LF and a good 3B. I don't think that will happen. I'm not sure I trust Cespedes on the contract he'll earn.

I think Wood is either extended or traded this year. I'd go with traded. I'm guessing the new folks see him as a high injury risk.
So my guess would be Tehran, Miller, Wisler, ManBan, Retread or scrap heap guy. Wood, Maybin, Peraza and Folty likely going off in deals to other places to try and fill LF, 3B, and dump CJ.

The Braves aren't going to spend on a starting pitcher. If the draft didn't show you that, I don't know what will.

Shelby Miller
Julio Teheran
Williams Perez
Man Ban
Wisler

I think Wood is and should be traded. Ideally for a bat, but knowing Hart he'll be spun for some prospect pitcher.(s)

Teheran will be the #3 if he is still around next year. We'll trade pitching for a Lf'er or 3b and sign a starter. Would yall try for Braun and Lucroy in the same deal and them not eat any of Brauns money to lessen the prospects?

I think Braun is a real possibility for next season. Not sure about Lucroy anymore. I think we could deal with CB.

That rotation would not get it done. Neither Perez or Banuelos are clear starting options going forward, and I'd be shocked if we traded Wood.

Replacing Wood with Perez or Banuelos makes us much worse.

But what if Wood is the key piece to a middle of the order bat?

I'd be much less inclined to trade Wood as I don't think he's as highly valued as Teheran/Miller, despite being right up there (maybe better). I think I would keep all three though and try to use FA and the lesser pitching prospects like Folty/Banuelos/Wisler to get some type of corner production

Agreed, though I'd like to hang onto Wisler, too.

thethe, I still wouldn't be thrilled with that trade. I think Wood is highly underrated by Braves fans.

I'm not saying I would trade him for sure but I think all options are on the table.

He is probably one of the main guys I'd be inclined to keep.

Man Ban not a clear starting option going forward? WUT?

He's tough to gauge, imo. I think with his velocity, he's going to have to have very good control/movement and he's struggled with walks in the minors this year.

Banuelos allows a lot of base runners and is very inefficient. If he commands his changeup consistently and keeps the walks down, he may stick as a starter. He's anything from a good middle of the rotation guy to a set up man right now, IMO.

Wood
Miller
Anderson
Wisler
Perez

Teheran will be out for surgery and the Braves will sign Brett Anderson.

Shelby Miller
Alex Wood
Manny Banuelos
Matt Wisler
Mike Minor/Williams Perez

I think Teheran will be traded with CJ attached at some point. I think we will be players for either Price or Greinke if either wants to be a Brave but not going to get my hopes up. I hope we spend a **** ton on hitting. Get Wieters and one of Justin/Heywood/Cespedes, and re-sign Uribe.

Wood traded for a bat.

Miller, Julio and two of Perez/Manny/Wisler for the final 2 spots.

Sign a FA SP to replace Wood.
