PRAISE ALLAH.
Now, terms please?
The Braves can pay Allard $3.462M without losing a pick next year, but they will also pay a penalty of ~$450k (75% of the amount they exceeded their bonus pool). So now that makes Allard's real cost closer to $4M.
Close is probably asking for ~$3.4M (max without losing a pick), and the Braves are probably offering ~$2.8M (all the remaining bonus pool money). It would be VERY foolish for Allard to risk that kind of cash in hopes of improving his draft stock (see Aiken just last year for an example), so I would bet they meet in the middle somewhere around $3M.

Very nice. I'm wondering if the Braves are going to use that leftover money to sign another late round pick or two. The team still has approximately $400K remaining to spend, in theory.
Great to see Allard sign.
BTW, I think the $3,462,000 figure on how much the Braves could have spent on Allard originated from MLB Trade Rumors and it does not seem correct. The author only took into account the top 10 picks when determining the Braves remaining pool $ (+ 4.99%), and the Braves had multiple signings over $100k after the 10th round (the overage counts against the pool). So, the Braves and Casey Close were negotiating in a very tight window. I'm guessing we're now pretty much tapped out on the pool.
Still worried lol jk man. He's signed this is an awesome addition!
It is fantastic news... I don't know why you have to pat yourself on the back. I also never said he wouldn't sign. Said I was nervous and wasn't the only one. Including experts so... Good for you I guess... but I'm ecstatic!
