2015 June Draft Results Thread

Yes, their GM is really bright. I'm noticing a trend throughout baseball between really smart front offices and going heavy on positional talent. I'm just afraid we may be living in 1995 when it doesn't make sense to do so anymore.

We have the ability to have an eye on the future right now. I've been behind most of the moves this offseason, and most have been made to add pitching. I was assuming we would address positional talent more in this draft with all the picks we have. If we don't do that, and use some of the excess picks to reach on guys, I won't be happy.

What is all this talk about lack of hitters in the Braves system? They could arguably have 3 of top 100 prospects be hitters (Albies/peraza/Smith) with really good hitters right behind in Peterson/Davidson.

braves are not planning on on a 5 year rebuild. So we can't do the Houston/Cubs model.

If we would have traded Simmons, FF, Tehran, and Wood then we would have been going down the model.

Not to mention all of the elevators I read said there were not many, if any, impact bats.

Clark's Rules. If they ain't from GA then I'm drafting a pitcher.

There were not many impact bats. I'm ok with Allard at 14. But there are high upside bats, and the pick at 28 was very underwhelming and another pitcher.

Not taking positional players if they're not from GA is a good way to unnecessarily limit yourself and end up way behind.

They have the 2nd best record in baseball without him.

Like the Cubs, Houston has had a ton of high picks over the last 4-5 years.

We havent.

Im not disagreeing with either model, i agree we should have gone hitter at 28 though.

Albies, Peraza, and Smith are all of the same vein. They're guys whose value is completely tied to their speed and ability to get on base. Which is fine, but you need legitimate power and ability to drive in runs as well. We have very, very little of that. Peterson and Davidson are good prospects and could develop into something real. But even there, they're both limited defensively and there's probably only room for one of them; and even then, they don't have monstrous ceilings.

We need an influx of positional talent into the system, guys with the capability of being real, big-time hitters.

None of the first three are likely impact bats. Each are speedy, good defense guys that you hope have good eyes at the plate.

Houston's picks over the last few years have pretty much nothing to do with this year's team, though.

Right, their bullpen is, if we had a good pen, we're probably in 1st in a rebuilding/throwaway year but thats another story.

NOOOOOO!!!! Austin is one of my Mississippi State recruits!!! Dang!!!

Well, if he signs, at least he signs with Atlanta.

Yeah, what a massive bummer. We finally get a positional player, and he's a State signee. Son of a...

Well, forget this draft.
