2015 June Draft Results Thread

For the last time this is not the NFL draft. Half these players won't reach the majors. Teams don't draft BPA according to public rankings.

That's even more interesting then. We reached for guys who we'll have to pay at slot value anyway?

Like 50LB said, it's impossible to gauge an obvious reach, especially with high schoolers.

Kiley McDaniel said it best. Ten years from now we won't remember whether a player was overslot/underslot or reach/value pick. The player is either good or bad. It's always defensible to pick your guy if you think he's going to be gone before your next pick.

What I hate (and it was more of an issue in the old draft system) is picking based on signability. But that seems like a relic of the past.

The only real issue I have had is with Minter/Graham because they scream college RP.

Back to back college RHP for the Braves. Ryan Clark. Big guy at 6'6". Another potential late inning reliever.

Maybe because we've taken some FO guys from teams like the Padres? They may have scouted these guys pretty well already? I don't know.

Makes a lot of sense. I believe Tom Batista and Roy Clark were with west coast teams as well.

JR RHP Ryan Clark (UNC Greensboro) and SR RHP Dmitri Kourtis (Mercer) have explosive 88-92ish fastballs that are extremely difficult to elevate. Both should find success as relievers professionally, though the 6-5, 230 pound Clark has a pair of offspeed pitches good and command enough to start if called upon.

I feel like we will be saying this about every pick for the rest of the draft. Must be saving money for the Cuban players. It was their plan all along!
