OL\QB always go higher than initially thought. The talent is just so thin there usually. I guess the reason Id be ok with the Sherff pick is because of scarcity. If Sherff is a guard, then I'd be a grumble puss about that pick.
He wasn't just projected later because of his speed. He wasn't that good in college. He embarrassed UGA, but that's about it . Had a pretty solid Offensive line as well, but wasn't anything more than a chain mover. I guess that isn't something you guys have, but he likely could have been had in the 5th or 6th pretty easily.
It was a nice haul. Smith had a lot of late momentum leading up to the draft.
I wouldn't rely on draft grades as the gauge for where he would have been drafted. (outside of first round; maybe 2nd) Scotty M. said he was the highest ranked player on the board in the 3rd and he would have taken him a round earlier (was surprised he lasted). They clearly don't have the same draft boards as Mayock and Kiper who simply rehash the same **** over and over.
Florida had a terrible offense with no threat of passing the ball at all. I wouldn't say Jones wasn't that good, he averaged 5 yards per carry and dominated Tennessee and Georgia. Look at the LSU game, Jones got 4 carries, Taylor got 2, and Driskel got 21!
I don't think he's a great prospect, but he should be a solid NFL back that can move the chains. He's a big, strong, physical runner. He probably wouldn't fit many zone blocking schemes.
edit, the guy Scot compared him to was Frank Gore
