This talk of Sale is kind of loony to me.
They went so far as to meet with Lester.

This will be just like that, meaning it isn't going to happen. It sure makes for a great show for the fans though.
What would be a fair price for Archer?
Per the book "The Arm" they offered Lester. The author was given full access to Lester's process. IIRC they were not w/i 25 million of the winning bid but they offered and Lester really wanted Atlanta to win per the book.
The Braves are also among the most serious bidders for catcher Jason Castro, as they look at the available catching.
This is my problem with giving up what it takes to get Sale. If you go all in now, you can't start Adonis Garcia at third. You can't go into the season with Flowers as your primary catcher. And I'm not convinced that you can go into the year with Jim Johnson as your closer.
It speeds up the rebuild to a level that we simply aren't in position to be ready for.
Olney: Braves are aggressively swapping offers for starting pitchers. Rival officials think Braves and Astros will add the most help this winter.
I think trading a bunch of prospects for Sale would be an example of premature transactulation. You don't tear down a team to start making made gesticulations with personnel. That's what Preller did in San Diego and I don't think we want to follow that example.

Ok, I promise this is the last you will hear from me about Gray, Sale or Archer being unrealistic. I won't even post an "I told you so" in 3 months haha.
