2016-2017 Off-Season Thread

What about grienke? Would you take on that money? What woul you trade?

What about Inciarte, Wisler, Folty, Vizcaino, Ellis for Greinke & Shelby Miller and the D'Backs pay Greinke's deferred money.

Braves get Greinke as a $21M per year pitcher and a reclamation shot at Miller. D'Backs move two mistakes, get 4 ML players back with a decent AAA prospect.

Braves play Mallex in CF.

Braves Rotation: Greinke, Teheran, Miller, Dickey, Colon, Collmenter, Blair (maybe sign Jorge De La Rosa) - Keep essentially all of the high end pitching prospects.

Lineup: CF M Smith, SS Swanson, 1B Freeman, LF Kemp, RF Markakis, 3B Garcia/Ruiz, C Flowers/Recker, 2B Jace/SRod

Sign KJ and Frenchy for Bench

Bench: SRod, Recker, KJ, Frenchy, d'arnaud

A couple of articles out there about the Dodgers looking to shed payroll. Is there a number where Turner makes sense? Any chance he could be had 4/60 + a team option at 20 million? I think that would be a reasonable risk and worth giving up a pick. I think he can be a 3+ WAR guy for the life of that deal.

In 4 years Maitan will be 21? Riley 23-24? Demerritte 27?

I would love to have Turner. I think it boils down to the pick.

If we knew the compensatory picks that could help out a lot. We could have a pick or we could work out a trade for one...or both. I can't see us not using that top 5 allotment to spread out over at least 2 if not 3 picks.

4 years 110. Damn

27.5 per year. Outside of 2015 where he rated as a plus defender for the only time he has been a 3 WAR player for his career which is what he's projected to be next year as well. I'm guessing $$/WAR has now jumped to 9 million? Crazy times.

We'll see. They may have just overpaid.

Probably was the right move. And to think a deal like this (but longer) is what Freeman would likely be getting if he had hit FA this year.

If Freeman hit the crappy FA market this year going into his age 27 season he would easily double the Ces contract and top $200M with at least 1 opt out before he turned 30. He would be a Yankee without a doubt.

I like this deal for the Marlins at 2 / $22m. None of the SP deals around the league have been too bad (yet), but this is probably my second favorite after the Colon signing.

Rosenthal says rival execs get the feeling that the Astros are wanting to trade one of their big bats (Bregman or Springer possibly) for an elite starting pitcher. I know there is some disagreement about whether Teheran is elite or not, but that's the only way I trade him.
