2016 DRAFT Signing Tracker ... FINAL, JULY 15

Hasn't he indicated he wants 250K plus college tuition so he can get his degree.

yeah, but that's a fairly common added benefit for signees. If they bust, or if they choose to go to college during the offseason the teams generally pick up the tab. But that $$$ is not considered bonus money so doesn't count towards the slot allotment. It's benefit like dental/medical and counts toward taxable income if/when it is used by the player.

This is what I have.

$13,224,100.00 -- total slot value of our draft

$13,885,305.00 -- total plus 5%

$8,460,000.00 -- total of what is signed. this includes any of round 10+ picks over $100K..

$5,425,305.00 -- what is left to sign #3(Anderson), #76(Cumberland),#229(Hyssong),#259(Neslony), and #289(Mooney)

I put Anderson at 4 million, Cumberland at 1 million and then Hyssong, Neslony and Mooney at 100K each. That leaves us 125.3K for anyone else.

Still cutting it very close!!

Same as I had - we're working with the same +5%.

Figured out where the $12,460,000 came from - it's the "signed" plus Anderson's $4 million. Was looking at the wrong column on my spreadsheet...DUH!

*amn Mondays suck!!!

Cumberland as of about 8 p.m. Monday

Cumberland has a great build for an MLB catcher. If he can just be avg with the glove, I think that power will play. I hope he moves quickly through the system!

I think a lot of us on this board has a great build for a catcher. Squatty and fat. I'm just sayin.

Negabraves showed their ass in this draft. Let's be honest. The strategy clearly worked. Getting Anderson and Wentz is clearly pretty awesome. Add to that Muller and your talking about an awesome haul. I feel like they are trying to save face, but anyone with a clear mind can see that the Braves had damn good draft.

Easily the best draft I can remember. Obviously depends on how the players develop but the high end talent is certainly there like in no draft before in recent memory. A+ easily especially with how many we are signing

Bigger # than I expected. I would speculate that draft-eligible college sophomores have the most leverage in this process.

Amount of leverage: Draft-eligible college sophs > HS players committed to JUCO > HS players committed to College > College Juniors > College Seniors.

That the draft was going to be a good one was never in doubt. When you have a top 3 pick and 3 picks in the first 45, you're going to have a good draft. I think people who were critical of the draft don't think that it was a terrible draft but that it wasn't as good as it could have been. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the strategy of going bargain shopping with the 3rd overall pick. I can understand the strategy, it's just not one I would have employed. It would have turned out better if a prep bat had fallen instead of Wentz but that's a risk you take with this kind of strategy.

To reiterate, we had a great draft. Got lots of talent. I just personally prefer trying to go all in at 3.

If Cumberland was 1.5 million then there is no way Anderson can be for 4 million. They will be over the 5% slot and lose next years 1st rounder. I am not liking the way things are shaking out right now!!

I know Anthony was on a lot of folks' radar (and I haven't bothered calculating the total bonus outlay to this point), but I don't see how the resources to sign him are there.

Yeah by my count the Cumberland signing puts them at $10,510,000.00 with the other bonuses listed on page 1, so that leaves them with $3,375,305.00 before they hit the 5% over mark.

I don't either. if Anderson comes in at 3.5, then yes there will be money available. But right now we have $3,915,305.00 to sign Anderson, Neslony and Mooney. and that is with Hyssong at 10 grand and allocating in the 5% overage already.
